The Rolling Pie
1. An old man and his old wife lived in a small old house, near the forest.
2. One day, the old man wanted to eat a pie.
3. So his old wife cooked a delicious pie and put it on the table.
“It’s too hot!” said the old man.
4. So the old woman put the pie on the window sill.
5. But the pie is getting bored; so she rolled up to the garden.
There was a rabbit in the garden and he told her:
“I 'm going to eat you up!”
But the pie started singing:
“I’m the rolling pie, I’m the rolling pie!
See my face, it’s all wheat!
Try to catch me if you can!”
6. She ran away and rolled through the forest;
She was rolling and rolling when she met a grey wolf;
“I ‘m going to eat you up!” said the wolf.
But the pie started singing:
“I’m the rolling pie, I’m the rolling pie!
See my face, it’s all wheat!

7. She ran away and rolled through the forest.

“Hello, Pie” said the fox, as clever as ever.
“How round you are!

The pie, proud as can be, started singing her little song again.

9. Meanwhile, the fox was getting closer and closer.
Then, when he was close to the pie, he asked her:
“What are you singing? I am old and deaf! What are you singing?
10. So the pie jumped on the fox’s nose and started singing.

But Yum! Yum! The fox ate her up!
