• Entfernen Sie ein Slotblech (oder ggf. Ihre alte Soundkarte) und stecken Sie die Soundkarte
in einen freien PCI-Steckplatz, schrauben Sie sie fest. Kontrollieren Sie, ob die Soundkarte
richtig im Steckplatz sitzt.

• If so desired, connect the audio output of your CD-ROM drive via a suitable cable with the
sound card.
Connect a further audio output e.g., of your CD burner with the AUX input of the sound card.
Make sure to observe the correct assignment of the cables, see above.
Prescribed Use
• Now close the housing of your computer again.
• Now connect your PC speakers with the outputs of the sound card:
FRONT-SPK: output for front speakers
REAR-SPK: output for rear speakers

Connections and Configuration
Legen Sie den mitgelieferten Datenträger in das entsprechende Laufwerk ein und folgen Sie
allen Anweisungen von Windows.
Zum Zeitpunkt der Drucklegung dieser Bedienungsanleitung war der Treiber z.B. für Windows
ME im Verzeichnis "Sound\CMedia8738\Win_ME\drv" zu finden. Für andere Betriebssysteme
sind ebenfalls entsprechende Verzeichnisse auf der CD vorhanden.
Die Verzeichnisstrukturen könnten sich aber bei neueren Versionen der Treiber-CD evtl.
ändern.
"Gameport"
An diesem Anschluss können Sie einen analogen PC-Joystick anstecken. Über ein dazu geeignetes Adapterkabel (nicht im Lieferumfang) lassen sich hier auch MIDI-Geräte betreiben.
CD-Audio-Eingänge & AUX-Eingang (Stiftleisten auf der Platine)
Die beiden CD-Audio-Eingänge sind parallel geschaltet. Nutzen Sie deshalb entweder den oberen oder den unteren Anschluss!
Wenn Sie ein weiteres Gerät anstecken wollen (z.B. wenn Ihr CDROM-Laufwerk bereits mit
einem der CD-Audio-Eingänge verbunden ist und Sie zusätzlich den Audio-Ausgang eines CDBrenners an die Soundkarte anschließen wollen), so nutzen Sie bitte den AUX-Eingang.
• The operation of two sound cards in one PC (e.g., on-board sound card and the sound card
included here) is not impossible, however, it can lead to problems.
This is why you should remove other sound cards and/or switch the on-board sound card of
your main board off.
• If you already have a joystick on your computer (e.g., on-board joystick of the main board),
do switch it off. There must only be one joystick on a computer.
• Falls Sie in Ihrem PC schon einen Joystickport haben (z.B. Onboard-Joystickport des
Mainboards), so schalten Sie ihn ab. In einem PC darf es nur einen Joystickport geben!
Each modern joystick port supports two joysticks, a Y adapter is necessary for the connection of two joysticks to your PC.
The individual joysticks must not have more functions than "up/down", "left/right" and two
fire buttons.
Jeder moderne Joystickport unterstützt dabei zwei Joysticks; es ist für den Anschluss von
zwei Joysticks an Ihren PC ein sog. Y-Adapter nötig.
Die einzelnen Joysticks dürfen dabei aber nicht mehr Funktionen haben als "Hoch/Runter",
"Links/Rechts" und zwei Feuerknöpfe.
Hat Ihr Joystick z.B. vier Feuerknöpfe oder einen zusätzlichen "Throttle"-Regler, der sich
nicht abschalten lässt, so kann kein Y-Kabel verwendet werden, der Betrieb eines zweiten
Joysticks ist nur über einen sog. Joystick-Umschalter möglich - der gleichzeitige Einsatz
zweier Joysticks ist dabei aber nicht möglich!
• Kontrollieren Sie die Einstellungen in der Lautstärkeregelung. Dies gilt vor allem für den
Mikrofoneingang, oft ist er deaktiviert.
Der Lautsprecherausgang für die hinteren Lautsprecher ("REAR-SPK") ist möglicherweise
ebenfalls abgeschaltet.
• Bei neueren Versionen der Treiber-CD könnte sich der Pfad zu den Treibern evtl. ändern.
• Kontrollieren Sie die Belegung des Audiokabels Ihres CDROMs bzw. CD-Brenners; beachten
Sie dazu die Angaben im Bild oben.
"LINE-IN"
This input can be connected with e.g., the line output of an external CD player or turner/cassette deck, to record music.
"MIC-IN"
With a suitable PC microphone e.g., voice or similar can be recorded on this input.
"FRONT-SPK" and "REAR-SPK"
Connect your PC speaker set to the "FRONT-SPK" connection.
A second PC speaker set can be connected to the "REAR-SPK" connection (there are also special PC speaker sets with 4 speakers, mainly together with a subwoofer).
If your joystick has e.g., four fire buttons or an additional "throttle" control, which cannot be
switched off, then a Y cable cannot be used, the operation of a second joystick is only possible via a joystick transfer switch – but then the simultaneous use of two joysticks is not
possible.
• Control the settings of the volume control. This is especially important for the microphone
input, it is quite often deactivated.
The speaker output for the rear speakers ("REAR-SPK") might also be switched off.
• With newer versions of the driver CD, the path to the drivers might change.
"Gameport"
In this connection you can connect an analog PC joystick. Via a suitable adapter cable (not
included) MIDI devices can also be operated here.
• Check the assignment of the audio cable of your CD-ROM and/or CD burner, make sure to
observe the instructions in the illustration above.
CD audio inputs & AUX inputs (plug connector on board)
The two CD-audio inputs are connected in series. This is why you should use either the top or
the bottom connection.
If you want to connect a further devices (e.g., if your CD-ROM drive is already connected with
one of the CD audio inputs and you additionally want to connect the audio output of a CD burner to the sound card), please use the AUX input.
Make sure to pay attention to the correct assignment of the audio cable (R=right,
L=left, G=Ground/Earth).
Einbau
Installation
Falls Sie keine Fachkenntnisse für den Einbau besitzen, so lassen Sie den
Einbau von einer FACHKRAFT oder einer entsprechenden Fachwerkstatt
durchführen!
Durch unsachgemässen Einbau wird sowohl die Soundkarte als auch Ihr
Computer und alle angeschlossenen Geräte beschädigt.
Schalten Sie den Computer, in den die Soundkarte eingebaut werden soll und
alle angeschlossenen Geräte aus und trennen Sie alle Geräte von der
Netzspannung, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker! Das Ausschalten über den Ein/Ausschalter genügt nicht!
Driver Installation
• Der Betrieb von zwei Soundkarten in einem PC (z.B. Onboard-Soundkarte und die hier gelieferte Soundkarte) ist zwar nicht unmöglich, kann aber Probleme verursachen.
Entfernen Sie deshalb eine andere Soundkarte bzw. schalten Sie die Onboard-Soundkarte
Ihres Mainboards ab.
Achten Sie auf die korrekte Belegung der Audiokabel (R=rechts, L=links,
G=Ground/Masse).
Vorsicht, Lebensgefahr!
Before each new opening of the PC, the PC needs to be separated from the
mains voltage again, see above.

Tipps & Hinweise
"FRONT-SPK" und "REAR-SPK"
Schließen Sie am "FRONT-SPK"-Anschluss Ihr PC-Lautsprecherset an.
Ein zweites PC-Lautsprecherset kann am "REAR-SPK"-Anschluss angesteckt werden (es gibt
auch spezielle PC-Lautsprechersets mit 4 Boxen, meist in Verbindung mit einem Subwoofer).
• If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off immediately and control all settings
and cable connections.
Afterwards Windows needs to be restarted.
Danach ist meist ein Neustart von Windows erforderlich.
"MIC-IN"
Mit einem dazu geeigneten PC-Mikrofon kann an diesem Eingang z.B. Sprache o.ä. aufgenommen werden.
• Connect your computer and monitor with the mains voltage and switch on all devices.
Insert the included data carrier in the corresponding drive and follow all instructions of
Windows.
At the time of printing the operating instructions, the driver for e.g., Windows ME could be
found in the directory "Sound\CMedia8738\Win_ME\drv". For other operating systems there
are also corresponding directories on the CD.
However, the structures of the directory might change with newer versions of the driver CD.
Treiber-Installation
"LINE-IN"
Dieser Eingang kann z.B. mit dem Line-Ausgang eines externen CD-Players oder
Tuners/Cassettendecks verbunden werden, um Musik aufzunehmen.
• Remove a slot cover plate (or if necessary your old sound card) and insert the sound card into
a free PCI slot and screw it tight. Check whether the sound card is properly fixed in the slot.
In case you have no technical knowledge on the installation, have the installation carried out by an EXPERT or a suitable specialist workshop.
In the case of improper installation the sound card as well as your computer
and all the connected devices will get damaged.

Utilisation prévue
• Enlevez le couvercle en tôle de l’emplacement choisi (ou le cas échéant votre ancienne carte son) et enfoncez la carte son dans l’emplacement PCI libre, vissez-la fermement.
Contrôlez que la carte son est correctement enfichée dans la baie.
• Si vous le souhaitez, connectez la sortie audio du lecteur de cédérom à l’aide d’un câble
approprié à la carte son.
Connectez une autre sortie audio, par exemple, celle de votre graveur CD à l’entrée AUX de
la carte son.
Tenez compte de la bonne affectation des câbles, voir ci-dessus.
Le présent produit est prévu pour être intégré à un ordinateur compatible PC et sert par exemple à la reproduction ou à l’enregistrement audio de signaux audio analogiques.
• Refermez le capot de l’unité centrale de votre ordinateur.

• Connectez votre ordinateur et votre moniteur au secteur et allumez tous les appareils.
• Si votre ordinateur ne démarre pas correctement, éteignez-le immédiatement et contrôlez
tous les réglages et tous les câblages.
Avant de ré-ouvrir l’ordinateur, enlevez les fiches des prises de courant, voir
ci-dessus !
Branchements et configuration
Installation du pilote
Placez le CD joint dans le lecteur correspondant et suivez toutes les instructions de Windows.
A la date d’impression de ce mode d’emploi, le pilote pour Windows ME se trouvait dans le
répertoire "Sound\CMedia8738\Win_ME\drv". Pour d’autres systèmes d’exploitation, les
répertoires correspondants sont également sur le cédérom.
Les structures du répertoire pourraient éventuellement changer avec les versions les plus
récentes du cédérom avec logiciel pilote.
En général, un redémarrage de Windows est ensuite nécessaire.
Trucs & astuces
• La mise en service de deux cartes son dans un PC (par ex. une carte son intégrée (Onboard)
et la carte son livrée ici) n’est pas impossible, mais peut toutefois causer des problèmes.
Enlevez pour cette raison toute autre carte son ou débranchez la carte son intégrée
(Onboard) à la carte mère.
• Au cas où vous auriez déjà un port Joystick (par ex. un port Joystick intégré (Onboard) à la
carte mère), débranchez-le. Il ne peut y avoir qu’un port Joystick par PC !
"LINE-IN"
Cette entrée peut être connectée, par exemple, à la sortie Line d’un lecteur de CD externe ou
d’un tuner/magnétophone à cassettes pour enregistrer de la musique.
"MIC-IN"
Avec un microphone PC approprié, on peut sur cette sortie enregistrer, par exemple, ce qui est
parlé ou similaire.
"FRONT-SPK" et "REAR-SPK"
Connectez le jeu de haut-parleurs de votre PC à la prise "FRONT-SPK".
Un jeu supplémentaire de haut-parleurs peut être connecté à la prise "REAR-SPK" (il y a aussi
des jeux de haut-parleurs spéciaux avec 4 baffles, en général en connexion avec un Subwoofer).
Port jeux "Gameport"
Vous pouvez connecter à cette sortie un Joystick PC analogique. A l’aide d’un câble adaptateur
approprié (non contenu dans l’emballage) on peut également y connecter des appareils MIDI.
Entrées audio CD & entrée AUX (Barrettes à broches sur la carte)
Les deux sorties audio CD sont branchées en parallèle. Utilisez, pour cette raison, ou bien la
connexion du haut ou bien celle du bas !
Si vous voulez connecter un appareil supplémentaire (par ex. si votre lecteur cédérom est déjà
connecté à l’une des entrées audio CD et que vous vouliez en même temps connecter la sortie audio d’un graveur CD à la carte son), utilisez alors l’entrée AUX.
Tout port Joystick moderne supporte deux Joysticks ; pour pouvoir connecter deux Joysticks
à votre PC, un adaptateur dit en Y est nécessaire.
Néanmoins, les deux Joysticks connectés ne doivent pas disposer de plus de fonctions que
"haut/bas", "gauche/droite" et deux boutons de tir.
Si votre Joystick dispose de quatre boutons de tir par exemple ou d’un régulateur manette
des gaz "Throttle" ne pouvant être mis en service, alors il n’est pas possible d’utiliser un
câble Y, l’emploi d’un deuxième Joystick n’est possible qu’au moyen d’un commutateur à
Joystick cad que l’utilisation simultanée de deux Joysticks n’est pas possible !
• Contrôlez les réglages de volume. Ceci concerne en particulier l’entrée du microphone qui
est souvent désactivée.
La sortie haut-parleur pour les haut-parleurs arrières ("REAR-SPK") est probablement aussi
désactivée.
• Il est possible que le chemin menant au pilote soit modifié sur les CD pilote les plus récents.
• Contrôlez l’affectation du câble audio de votre cédérom ou de votre graveur CD ; tenez compte des indications sur l’illustration ci-dessus.
Tenez compte de l’affectation correcte des câbles audio (R=droite, L=gauche,
G=Ground/masse).
Montage
Au cas où vous n’auriez aucune connaissance spécifique concernant le montage, laissez-le effectuer par un atelier ou du personnel SPECIALISE !
Un montage incorrect peut endommager la carte son mais aussi votre ordinateur et tous les appareils y étant branchés.
Attention, danger de mort !
Eteignez l’ordinateur sur lequel vous voulez installer la carte son ainsi que tous
les appareils y étant connectés et débranchez tous ces appareils du secteur,
enlevez les fiches des prises de courant ! Eteindre seulement par l’interrupteur
ne suffit pas !
