Welcome to
the Nord-Pas de Calais, France
Bonjour!
I
’m Nicole, your guide to holiday-making in the Nord-Pas de Calais.
The Nord-Pas de Calais is an amazing region of startling contrasts. From the
breathtaking beauty of the stunning cliffs at Cap Blanc Nez and the pale sandy
beaches of the Opal Coast to chic elegant towns like Arras and Lille where
the superb Flemish architecture breathes the region’s rich history, there is something
to entice everyone.
But there is much more to our region than just beautiful scenery and lots to see
and do. This is a region with ‘art de vivre’ where life slows down and everyone takes
time to enjoy the good things our environment has to offer, fresh fish from
the sea, fresh vegetables from our market gardens, good food in our restaurants
and happy times with our people. The people of the Nord-Pas de Calais are
renowned throughout France for their friendliness and their warm welcome is what
makes a holiday in our region really special. Why not come and meet them for
yourselves? I will be delighted to introduce you.
Did you know that the Nord-Pas de Calais has hundreds of kilometres of signposted
walking, cycling and bridle trails with country cottages and bed and breakfast
accommodation and rural inns to welcome the weary traveller?
Have you heard about our 9 ‘Kid’ labelled seaside resorts which offer a special
welcome to children and our child friendly hotels and restaurants where the opinion
of the little people really counts?
Have you ever tried sand-yachting? Kite flying? Have you heard of a new invention
called the rail-cycle?
Well, I have lots of things to tell you about because plenty is happening
in the Nord-Pas de Calais all year round. You will find information on our website
www.relaxfrance.net. If you sign on to my newsletter I will write to you every
two months with information on events, special offers and fun ideas for short
and long breaks throughout the year!
