Chers parents,
Le LFS propose l’option internationale du Baccalauréat (OIB) aux élèves qui rentrent en classe de
Première.
Qu’est ce que l’OIB (version britannique)?
La version britannique de l’OIB fait partie inté grante d’un examen franco-britannique de
fin d’é tudes secondaires. Il combine le vaste é ventail de matiè res enseigné es et la rigueur
du baccalauré at français à des matiè res supplé mentaires en anglais (niveau A Level), et ce
en un seul diplô me.
● Il est conjointement certifié par University of Cambridge International Examinations et le
Ministè re français de l’É ducation nationale.
● Ce diplô me est reconnu en France et en Grande-Bretagne pour une admission à
l’université .
● Il requiert des connaissances acadé miques et linguistiques é quivalentes en anglais et en
français.

Deux sujets, Langue Anglaise et Litté rature et Histoire–Gé ographie sont ajouté s au programme du
baccalauré at français traditionnel. Ces deux matiè res supplé mentaires sont passé es à l’examen en
anglais et certifiées par University of Cambridge International Examinations comme équivalentes
au niveau A Level. La nature biculturelle de l’OIB est illustré e par le fait que l’Histoire–Gé ographie
est enseigné e en anglais et en français.
La préparation à l’OIB se fait sur deux ans (Première et Terminale). Cette année, les élèves d’OIB
reçoivent quatre heures de plus d’instruction en Langue Anglaise et Litté rature et Histoire–
Gé ographie en par rapport aux é lè ves qui pré parent le Baccalauré at Gé né ral.
L’OIB est disponible dans les trois sé ries acadé miques suivantes du baccalauré at gé né ral français:
L, ES et S.
Les é lè ves ayant passé l’OIB é tudient ensuite souvent dans les université s britanniques les plus
sé lectives et obtiennent d’excellents ré sultats.

What is the OIB (British version)?

The British version of the OIB is an integrated Franco-British school-leaving certificate. It
combines the breadth and rigour of the French Baccalaureate with extra subjects taught
and examined in English to A Level standard, in a single certificate.

It is jointly certified by University of Cambridge International Examinations and the French
Ministry of Education.
●
It provides students with a university entrance qualification valid in both France and
Britain.
●
It makes academic and linguistic demands to an equal level in English and French.
Two subjects, English Language & Literature and History–Geography, are added to the full
syllabus of the traditional French Baccalaureate. These extra subjects are examined in English and
certified by Cambridge as equivalent to A Level in standard. The bicultural nature of the OIB is
illustrated by the fact that History–Geography is taught in both English and French.
OIB student prepare the OIB exam over two years (Première and Terminale). This year, OIB
students receive four additional hours of Language and Literature and History-Geography
instruction compared to students preparing the General Baccalaureate.
The OIB is available in the three academic streams of the French Baccalaureate: L, ES and S.
Students who have taken the OIB routinely study English, History or Geography very successfully
at the most selective UK universities.
