Ten Minutes By Tractor Wines Available on List Pinot Gris
Ten Minutes By Tractor Wines Available on List The following is a list of our current releases and a selection of some back vintages which we make available from our very small and dwindling museum stock. In some cases we have only a few bottles available. For a full vintage selection please see the Chardonnay and/or Pinot Noir pages. The tannins are as fine as I have ever seen from this region and the complexity already dumbfounds the olfactory system, all meaning that TMBT is a major force to be reckoned in the world of global Pinot Noir worship. Matthew Jukes 2012 100 Best Australian Wines 2010 Ten Minutes by Tractor McCutcheon Pinot Noir 2010 Ten Minutes by Tractor Judd Pinot Noir 2010 Ten Minutes by Tractor Wallis Pinot Noir 90 90 90 2010 Wallis is one of the finest wines ever to come to us by Tractor, capturing alluring exotic complexity within a style of silky refinement, effortless balance and considerable persistence. It’s a pinot noir of layered exotic spice, white pepper, anise, rose bud, bramble and undergrowth complexity, supporting a deep core of black cherry and blackberry fruit. The same Champagnes, disgorged at different times are, in effect, different wines. The Champagne Bruno Paillard website has an interesting piece on disgorgement where they talk of “Life after dégorgement...” and describe the five or six ‘lives’ the wine will pass through after a period of “convalescence” – “firstly fruit dominated, then by flowers spices, toasted aromas, and finally candied fruit and roasted notes...It will take a minimum of four to five years after disgorging to obtain the first spiced notes and even decades to attain full maturity.” Champagne – Vintage Blends 1998 Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Millesimé Brut [disgorged 07/06] 1999 Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Millesimé Brut [disgorged 08/09] 2002 Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Millesimé Brut [disgorged 01/12] 360 340 420 Egly-Ouriet - a tiny family owned house based in Ambonnay. Started in 1930 and now run by Michel Egly who owns six hectares in Ambonnay and half a hectare in both Bouzy and Verzenay. Total production is less than 6,000 cases a year. The vines are on average about 35 years old. Their Pinot Noir is considered so good in Champagne that Jacques Selosse buys it for his Rose. The Grand Cru Rose [NV] is always bottled with a very low dosage [perhaps 2-3 grams per litre]. It has a bright clear copper colour with a stream of exceptionally small bubbles that lasts forever. Quite frothy and unusually creamy and mouth coating [rare in Rosé Champagne] it usually displays elegant toast, apple and cocoa notes. Not as ‘big’ as the other Egly-Oriet wines, but very elegant and enjoyable. 2004 Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 540 Roederer own 180ha of land made up of small plots scattered all over Champagne, with the house itself based in Reims. Cristal is the most sought after prestige cuvée in the world, having been originally created specifically for Russian Tsar Alexander II in 1876; the Cristal Rosé is considered by many as the finest in the world. 1990 Veuve Cliquot La Grande Dame Brut [Magnum] 950 Veuve Cliquot owns almost 300ha of land throughout Champagne. Clicquot wines are predominately Pinot Noir based and generally produce fairly full-bodied, bready, rich and muscular wines. The opulent and powerful La Grand Dame, made only in vintage quality years, is considered one of the world’s best prestige cuvées. Blanc de Blancs [Chardonnay] 2004 Agrapart l’Avizoise Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 1999 Delamotte Blanc de Blancs Brut 2000 Diebolt-Vallois Fleur de Passion Blanc de Blancs 250 285 380 Diebolt-Vallois is a small family run house located in the Chardonnay producing village of Cramant that makes less than 6,000 cases of Champagne a year. The Fleur de Passion is the house’s prestige cuvée made from 65 year old vines in Les Pimonts and Les Buzons. Each year there are only 250 cases made of this amazing wine and despite it not undergoing malolactic fermentation, the wines are very expressive and rounded even when young. 1990 Salon Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Brut 1050 Salon is a tiny house on the Côte de Blancs, produces what connoisseurs consider to be the quintessential Blanc de Blancs. Salon produces Champagnes in minuscule amounts [20,000 bottles a year, if at all] from over 40-year-old vines in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger [one of the greatest crus of the Côte de Blancs]. Salon makes no other wine, only this vintage Blanc de Blancs and only in the greatest vintages. For this reason, it is the rarest of Champagnes, having released only 30 vintages in the last 76 years. Salon is extremely delicate, subtly rich and with age [20-30 years or more] develops notable aromas and flavours of coconut, walnut, coffee and vanilla. All champagne lovers should experience Salon at some stage. Exquisite. Blanc de Blancs [Pinot Blanc] 2005 Roses de Jeanne La Borolée Cédric Bouchard is the rising star of Grower Champagne producers. It is the smallest wine property of Champagne. Rose de Jeanne philosophy is single-vineyard, single vintage and single-grape bottlings and the result is simply astonishing. At Rose de Jeanne, the wines are released only when they are "ready". Cédric may keep a cuvée for 5 or 10 years in his cellar until he decides when they are going to be shipped to the client. “The explosive, kaleidoscopic Champagnes of Cédric Bouchard are some of the most compelling wines coming out of the region today.” Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate 360 Not Too Big, Not Too Small, Just Right... otherwise known as our ...Half Bottle List In many cases a half bottle represents the ideal compromise between our “by the glass” list and a normal bottle – you may be driving or dining with someone who doesn’t drink the particular variety you like; you may take the opportunity to try something you may otherwise not drink; you may want to try a few different wines through your meal – a white, a red and a sticky perhaps. Fruit quality worth the effort. Regionally some very good wines produced. Halliday 8/10 Langtons 8/10 2004 Late flowering with a hot December resulted in good fruit set. Below average temperature and rain over summer. Cool but dry led to late ripening. Hang time 3 days above average. Great flavour development. Halliday 10/10 Langtons 9/10 2005 Lots of rain during budburst. Below average temperatures and average rainfall resulted in small bunches and small berries. Our wettest February followed by above average temperatures in April meant a late and extended period of ripening, 17 days above average hang time resulted in intense flavour development. Halliday 7/10 Langtons 8/10 2006 Excellent flowering conditions, warmer than average and above average rainfall led to average fruit set. Cool February followed by a warmer March resulted in great vintage conditions and great fruit quality. Halliday 8/10 Langtons 9/10 2007 Cool dry budburst with frosts down the hill led to a poor fruit set ending with below average yields. Above average temperatures in the last quarter of vintage lead to ripe fruit and a hang time 18 days shorter than average. Halliday 8/10 Langtons 8/10 2008 Temperatures just above average; rainfall below average. Excellent flowering period with high percentage fruit set. Cool February, warm March. Hang time 15 days shorter than average. Halliday 8/10 Langtons 8/10 2009 Excellent budburst, cool & wet during flowering led to poor fruit set, resulting in low yields. Above average temperatures in January & February as well as driest February on record. Severe hot days in February made quality variable dependant on vineyard maintenance/aspect. Halliday 9/10 Langtons 6/10 2010 Warmest November ever with above average rainfall. Above average temperature from December through to March. Above average rainfall in the latter half of the season and finished with perfect harvest conditions, allowing fruit to be picked at optimal flavours. Halliday 9/10 Langtons 9/10 2011 Prolonged drought-breaking winter rains and above average rains continued during spring. Some vineyards performed reasonably well despite all the difficulties and relentless cool wet weather. Halliday 5/10 Langtons 5/10 Our vintage comments are based on our own records and BoM data from Cerberus (see our website for more detail). Halliday and Langtons scores reflect general regional conditions, not individual sub-regional or vineyard results. Fruit quality worth the effort. Regionally some very good wines produced Halliday 9/10 Langtons 8/10 2004 Late flowering with a hot December resulted in good fruit set. Halliday 9/10 Langtons 9/10 2006 Excellent flowering conditions, warmer than average and above average rainfall led to average fruit set. Cool February followed by a warmer March resulted in great vintage conditions and great fruit quality. Halliday 9/10 Langtons 9/10 2007 Cool dry budburst with frosts down the hill led to a poor fruit set ending with below average yields. Above average temperatures in the last quarter of vintage lead to ripe fruit and a hang time 18 days shorter than average. Halliday 9/10 Langtons 8/10 2008 Temperatures just above average; rainfall below average. Excellent flowering period with high percentage fruit set. Cool February, warm March. Hang time 15 days shorter than average. Halliday 9/10 Langtons 8/10 2009 Excellent budburst, cool & wet during flowering led to poor fruit set, resulting in low yields. Halliday 10/10 Langtons 10/10 2011 Prolonged drought-breaking winter rains and above average rains continued during spring. I have listed below what I believe are the rarest wines on the list, which is of course very subjective: 1984 1990 1993 2000 Prosper Maufoux Montrachet Grand Cru Salon Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Brut Domaine de la Romanée-Conti la Tâche Grand Cru [Magnum] Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti Grand Cru 350 750 5225 12500 Seppelt 100 Year Old Para Liqueur Tawny Seppelt 100 Year Old Para Liqueur Tawny Seppelt 100 Year Old Para Liqueur Tawny Maison Prosper Maufoux Montrachet Grand Cru Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru Moët & Chandon Dom Pérignon Oenothèque [disgorged 03] Salon Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Brut Veuve Cliquot La Grande Dame Brut [Magnum] Petaluma Rhine Riesling 1200 1200 1975 350 1285 850 1050 950 120 OLDEST 1879 1881 1900 1984 1985 1990 1990 1990 1990 BIGGEST Champagne 1990 Veuve Cliquot La Grande Dame Brut [Magnum] 950 White Wine 1998 Domaine Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile [Magnum] 2006 Domaine Louis Jadot Montrachet Grand Cru [Magnum] 1995 Petaluma Piccadilly Chardonnay [Magnum] 330 2800 185 Red Wine 1997 2004 2005 2005 2004 2005 1993 2007 2006 2006 Domaine Armand Rousseau Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St Jacques [Magnum] Domaine de la Pousse d'Or Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Bousse d’Or [Magnum] Domaine de la Pousse d’Or Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru [Magnum] Domaine de la Pousse d’Or Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Bousse d’Or [Magnum] Domaine de la Pousse d’Or Volnay 1er Cru Clos des 60 Ouvrées [Magnum] Domaine de la Pousse d’Or Volnay 1er Cru Clos des 60 Ouvrées [Magnum] Domaine de la Romanée-Conti la Tâche Grand Cru [Magnum] Domaine Faiveley Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru [Magnum] Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les St George [Magnum] Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale [Magnum] 845 360 850 850 525 585 5225 1445 630 615 SMALLEST Sparkling NV Delamotte Brut [375ml] NV Gosset Grand Rosé Brut [375ml] 84 125 White 2002 2009 2009 2007 2008 2009 2011 Cuilleron Condrieu [375 ml] Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Meursault 1er Cru Perrières [375ml] Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet [375ml] Domaine Michelot Meursault 1er Cru Geneverières [375ml] Domaine Michelot Meursault Clos St Felix [375ml] Mount Mary Vineyard Chardonnay [375ml] Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge Vineyard Riesling [375ml] 124 130 80 130 88 97 41 Domaine Armand Rousseau Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru [375ml] Domaine Armand Rousseau Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers [375ml] Domaine Armand Rousseau Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru [375ml] Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St George 1er Cru Clos de Porrets [375ml] Gaja Barberesco [375ml] Mount Mary Vineyard Pinot Noir [375ml] Paradigm Hill Col’s Block Shiraz [375ml] Paringa Estate Pinot Noir [375ml] Paringa Estate Shiraz [375ml] Shaw & Smith Shiraz [375ml] 175 140 175 109 220 140 48 67 54 46 Craigow Dessert Riesling [375ml] Château Coutet 1er Cru Classé Barsac [375ml] Château Suduiraut 1er Cru Classé Sauternes [375ml] Disznókö Tokaji Late Harvest Furmint [500ml] Dr Max Richter Mülheimer Helenenkloster Riesling Beerenauslese [375ml] Klein Constantia Vin de Constance [500ml] Lark Hill Riesling Auslese [375ml] Paolo Saracco Moscato d’Asti [375ml] Quealy May Harvest Muscat Blanc à Petit Grains [375ml] 46 155 195 66 420 240 58 45 47 Red 2008 2009 2009 2009 2000 2006 2008 2008 2009 2009 Sweet 2008 2006 2006 2009 2005 1993 2010 2010 2010
