MARIE CURIE ACTIONS 2012 ROAD SHOW
th
European Union 7 Framework Programme Marie Curie Actions aim at strengthening quantitatively and
qualitatively the human potential in research and technology in Europe by stimulating people to enter into the
profession of researcher, encouraging European researchers to stay in Europe, attracting to Europe researchers
from the entire world and making Europe more attractive to the best researchers. “Marie Curie Actions 2012
Road Show” building on the experiences with the 2011 Road Show will carry the banner of encouraging
European researchers to stay in Europe by making them mobile between different European research institutes
of this Road Show Network which is enlarged in 2012 compared to the previous year.
As being one of the main drivers of technological development in Europe, research centers have critical role in
building and strengthening the skills and experience of the researchers. In that context, Central European
Institute of Technology (CEITEC) in the Czech Republic, French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy
Commission (CEA); Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres; Italian National Agency for New
Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA);- Polish National Contact Point for
Research Programmes of the EU (KPK); Romanian National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering
(IFIN-HH); The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK and TURBO) are jointly
organizing the “Marie Curie Actions 2012 Road Show” with the aim of creating a link between the researchers
residing in the related countries and the research institutes of the Road Show Network. As experienced in 2011
Road Show, “Marie Curie Actions 2012 Road Show” will be a series of events taking place in each country
participating 2012 Road Show. The purpose will be to present and to introduce the research centers in each of
the countries visited and to acquaint the participants about research centers’ facilities and activities. The
presentations to be delivered during the events will have the objective of inviting the researchers to carry out
research in one of these research centers with Marie Curie Individual Actions.
2012 Road Show is planned as a series of info-days in the premises of 7 participating research centers with a
set of presentations by the representatives of each invited institution and the European Commission (EC). The
research centers will explain their research environment whereas the EC representatives are supposed to
introduce the opportunities under individual Marie Curie Actions. Furthermore, the researchers who are willing
to get more information will find the opportunity to bilaterally contact with the research institutions’
representatives at the booths which will be set up by each research institution at the event venue. Hosting
institution will also have the responsibility to deliver basic information on EURAXESS Network. Researchers of
all nationalities in the hosting country will be invited to the Road Show.
Recalling the main achievements of the Marie Curie Actions 2011 Road Show as;
 Cooperation between the stakeholders of the Road Show have been enhanced to a great extent;
 The Road Show contributed greatly towards increasing the visibility of the participating research
organizations;
 The events increased the awareness on Marie Curie Actions;
 One-on-one consultancies provided the participating researchers with specific information on each single
country’s research environment and leading research institutions;
 More than 450 researchers at experienced and early-stage level were given practical and administrative
information on the Marie Curie Actions’ Schemes with a specific focus on IEF and CIG Schemes;
it is believed that the proposed Marie Curie Actions 2012 Road Show will also create an opportunity for the
advancement of beneficial future international research collaborations among the researchers of institutions
taking part in the Road Show Network. The mobility created with the help of Marie Curie Individual Actions and
as a result of the events will certainly contribute to the overall European researchers’ mobility objectives.
