Just a hop from London by train, close to Burgundy and only one and a half hour

In Troyes, strolling through its beautiful cobbled streets, bordered by well restored
half timbered houses, you will be taken back to the Middle Ages.
The Champagne Route meanders through the vineyard. You will be surprised by

TROYES - A MEDIEVAL JEWEL
First of all, a map in your hands, you will discover that history
gave a strange – and very symbolic - shape to the town: a champagne
cork shape. This extraordinary figure has been given to Troyes by the
former fortifications that surrounded the town.
Troyes is a splendid medieval town, with its cobbled narrow streets
bordered by beautiful half timbered houses. Strolling in the town centre will
take you in an incredible travel into times. You will be taken back to the
Champagne fairs era, among the street stalls and the town halls.
Either they are arts museums (like Modern Art Museum or Saint
Loup Museum) or historical museums (like Tool Museum, Apothecary of
Hôtel-Dieu-Le-Comte, or textile museum), the museums of Troyes are
like the town: between tradition and modernity.
"What strikes you when you go to Troyes? ... Bells are ringing
everywhere!", was the popular saying, because of the number of
churches, convents, abbeys and other religious buildings that once
dotted the city. Today, Troyes gathers 9 classified churches and a
cathedral. All churches are different but they all hold master pieces in
their statues and stained glass windows.
But Troyes is not only a beautiful historical town. It’s a dynamic town with an
important textile tradition. A lot of great brands were born in Troyes
(Lacoste…). Today, the most important great brands of fashion have a
boutique in the factory outlet centre. Each year, more than two
million visitors come to Troyes to take advantages of the discounts
proposed by the brands (-30% to -50% on stock in relation to
traditional stores).

Hotels in the city centre

Hôtel Mercure Troyes Centre*** (70 rooms):
Built on the foundation of the former hosiery trade Poron factories Absorba, the
Mercure hotel is situated just a step from the town center. Its construction made in
collaboration with the architect of the Buildings of France had for mission to make
relive this former site of hosiery trade. The loom in the hall of the hotel and the
photos in the corridors make the hosiery trade the subject held of this hotel.

The Royal Hotel is one of the handsome buildings that adorn the avenues of the
town centre. The 40 air-conditioned rooms of the hotel are well equipped with bath,
shower, lavatory, double glazing, direct dial phone, colour TV. Moreover, the hotel
offers an air-conditioned meeting room for up to 20 people, an air-conditioned bar

Le Champ des Oiseaux**** (11 rooms):
The Champ des Oiseaux got its name from the original location of its buildings,
in honour of the storks living near by. Situated beside the cathedral it is a very
well restored 15th and 16th century half-timbered building. It was opened in
1995 by Mrs. Monique Boisseau, a retired French teacher.

La Maison de Rhodes**** (12 rooms):
The hotel was opened in 2003 by Mr Carcassin, that is perhaps a shade
more masculine and minimalist than its sister establishment (the Champ
des Oiseaux hotel). Some of the bathrooms can only be described as
palatial, while in part the décor reflects its 18th century wood panelling with
the red stain used on the beams in those days.

Hôtel le Relais Saint Jean**** (25 rooms):
The hotel is situated in the heart of the medieval town, opposite the famous
goldsmith's turret and the baker's house (16th century). All the rooms are airconditioned, spacious, comfortable and uniquely decorated: they are equipped with
slatted beds with adjustable heads and feet, big-screen colour television, mini bar,
direct telephone lines, and electric roller shutters. Bathrooms have showers and
hairdryers. The breakfast is served in a well decorated room and offers a wide
choice of food. The bar and the billiards room are ideal place to relax.

Restaurant “Les Crieurs de Vin”:
This place is unique in Troyes, both for the setting and the gastronomy. This
“bistrot cave”, proposes a cuisine mainly composed by products from the

THE ESPACE ARGENCE
To organise the meeting, we suggest you the Espace Argence.
Located in the city centre of Troyes, this beautiful, large and flexible site provides many
facilities for every kind of event.

History of the Espace Argence
The history of the site began in 1848. It was then the first train
station of Troyes and was called the “Embarcadère”.
Ten years after, the site became a secondary school for boys
only.
The secondary school closed during the 1970’s. It’s during the
1980’s that the idea to create a large place to welcome exhibitions,
concerts, congress was born.
The Espace Argence really opened its doors in 1999.

The Espace Argence today
Today, the Espace Argence is one of the most important places for fairs, shows,
congress… It can welcome until 3000 people.
The Espace Argence can adapt to your needs. 20 rooms are at your disposal on 2
levels:
- labour room from 28m² to 140 m²
- reception rooms of 100 and 150 m²
- committee or subcommittee rooms from 50 m² to 80 m²
- a big hall to welcome 3000 people (2200 sitting people)
- Amphitheatre of 100 seats
