Pour passer le Firmware d’un appareil série 8000
de la version 2.X à la version 3.X, il faut exécuter la
procédure de mise à jour deux fois de suite.
To move Firmware of a 8K series instrument, from
2.X to 3.X, it is necessary to run the full upgrade
process twice.
Tous les oscilloscopes de la série 8000 (même ceux
livrés en 2010) sont maintenant capables de traiter des
signaux UHD et/ou des signaux codés en HDR (High
Dynamic Range), moyennant d’y rajouter le ou les un
kits d’upgrade adéquates.
Quel que soit la combinaison de kits installés, une
mise à jour du Firmware est aussi nécessaire et cela
constitue l’astuce du mois !
Voici ce qu’il faut savoir :
Les oscilloscopes série 8000 sont livrés par défaut avec une
carte à 2 entrées (A et B). La première chose à faire est donc
de rajouter une deuxième carte d’acquisition dans le port 2.
Ce port était aussi utilisé pour la carte ‘composite’ et si elle
existe sur l’appareil à upgrader, cette fonctionnalité va
disparaitre à l’occasion de cette montée en puissance de
l’instrument. Cette carte 2SDI sera le seul upgrade
hardware, tous les autres seront software.
Il faut ensuite que la compatibilité 3G soit assurée, et y
ajouter l’upgrade 4K pour valider les nouvelles possibilités
de mesures spécifiques à l’UHD.
Enfin, pour ajouter les nouveaux affichages de Gamut en
HDR, il faut ajouter l’upgrade PROD.
En résumé pour passer un 8000 en UHD/HDR, il faut lui
rajouter les options suivantes :
2SDI : Carte d’acquisition 2 entrées
Hw
3G : Compatibilité signaux 3Gbps
Sw
4K : Mesures UHD
Sw
PROD : Gamuts évolués (y compris HDR) Sw
Mais la mise en place de ces kits d’upgrade ne suffit pas, il
faut aussi mettre à jour le firmware. Celui-ci est en libreservice sur le site www.tek.com et il faut sélectionner le
dernier en date.
Les versions 3.X sont apparues en sept 2014. Pour tous les
appareils livrés précédemment en version 2.X, il y a une
astuce à ne pas louper :

All the oscilloscopes of the 8k series (even the very
first units delivered in 2010) are now capable of
measuring UHD signals and/or signals having a wide
color gamut (HDR). To do so, it is necessary to add
the suitable upgrade kits.
Whatever is the selected kits, a Firmware upgrade is
also needed and this is THE trick of the month.
Here is what should be known :
Oscilloscopes 8k series are delivered by default with a 2
input card (A and B). The first thing to do is then to add a
second acquisition board in port 2. This port was used for
the composite board and if it exists in the instrument to
upgrade, this specification will disappear while upgrading
the unit to UHD. This upgrade will be the only one
including hardware, all the others will be Software type.
It is then necessary to add the 3G support on all the inputs,
and the UHD support in order to get the new measurement
possibilities, specific for UHD signals.
Lastly, if needed, it is possible to add the new HDR
support included in the PROD option.
To summarize, in order to add UHD and HDR possibilities
in a regular 8k oscilloscope, it is necessary to add the
following options :
2SDI : Extra acquisition board
Hw
3G : 3Gbps support
Sw
4K : UHD quad link support (or 2-SI)
Sw
PROD : Extended gamut display
Sw
The above upgrade kits will not be enough to make it
working, it is also needed to upgrade the firmware of the
scope. It is available free of charge in the Tektronix web site
www.tek.com by selecting the most recent in the list.
Versions 3.X appeared in September 2014, but for all
instruments delivered before, having version 2.X, there is a
tip that should not be missed :
Read the user manual carrefully.

Nota : When using the
USB possibility for the
