CAPA - Canadian Association of Physician Assistants ACAM - Association canadienne des adjoints au médecin November 4, 2011 My fellow colleagues: It is with great pleasure that I assume the position of Atlantic Chapter President of our fine Association. To say that I am humbled to be trusted by our membership to fulfill this important role in our region would be an understatement and I intend to tackle all of my responsibilities with the zeal and vigour that you all both expect and demand. Appropriately, I would also like to formally acknowledge and express our appreciation to our outgoing President, Mr. David Steiger. Dave's tireless efforts and advocacy of the PA profession in Eastern Canada are truly unrivalled and we have witnessed many gains under his leadership, the largest of which being the regulation and employment of PA's in New Brunswick. Though he leaves the Presidential role, I am ecstatic that he has agreed to remain involved as your Vice-President. His professional expertise and corporate knowledge can only be an asset as we proceed forward with our strategic plan. It was great to see so many of you at the conference this year. For those of you who unfortunately could not make it, I hope to communicate with you shortly. Our national conference was a tremendous success once again providing valuable educational and advocacy tools to our members and I commend all the organizers for their efforts. It is truly an exciting time to be a PA both in Eastern Canada as well as on the national stage. Today, there are more employed PA's in Canada than at any other time in our history with potential for positive growth in the Atlantic Region and CAPA will continue to advocate on the profession’s behalf with all of our health care partners and the appropriate stakeholders. In conclusion please let me echo the sentiments of our National President Mr. Tim Ralph, "We are all PA's, no matter where or when you trained, one united team with one singular message, Optimizing Patient Care". It is a fine day to be a PA!
