Important results to-date:
The shortage of health professionals has
greatly affected the health system in
Canada, and the lack of French-speaking
professionals
has
been
particularly
noticeable.
The Francophone minority communities are
more prone to feel the effects of such
shortages because of linguistic elements
that undermine the provision of equitable
health services in these regions.
From 2003 to 2012

 Relatively small number of participants (3 LPNs and 1RN).
 Time and ressources required to review participants’
accreditations.
 Adapting materials developed in a different province.
 Program is offered concurrently to LPNs and RNs.
 Program is offered part-time so participants may work; requires
flexibility in scheduling classes.
 Budget constraints.
 English-language requirements.
Despite the challenges however, participants have found positions
working in health care, and employers have expressed interest in
hiring more francophone health care workers to meet the demand in
Manitoba.
