Ontario college faculty reach tentative agreement
August 30, 2014 Faculty at Ontario's 24 colleges reached a tentative agreement
with the College Employer Council on Friday, August 29, after negotiating through
the summer.
Details of the agreement will be released to the members prior to the ratification
vote in late September, 2014.
"I want to congratulate College faculty on negotiating a tentative contract that
helps to protect and enshrine quality education for students," said OPSEU
President Warren (Smokey) Thomas.
"This has been a productive round of negotiations, and I cannot say enough about
the quality of the bargaining team and how they represent their members," said
OPSEU Negotiator, Mark Kotanen. "It was done right - with attention both to the
details and the larger issues."
"College Faculty first and foremost are here for the students. And we believe this
tentative agreement reflects that," said Kotanen.
OPSEU represents more than 12,000 full-time and partial-load faculty members at
colleges across Ontario. Faculty members include counsellors, instructors,
professors and librarians.

Un accord de principe pour le personnel scolaire des
collèges de l'Ontario
Le 30 août 2014 Après avoir négocié tout l'été, le personnel scolaire des
24 collèges de l'Ontario concluait aujourd'hui un accord de principe avec le
Conseil des employeurs des collèges.
Les détails de l'entente seront communiqués aux membres avant le vote de
ratification, soit vers la fin du mois de septembre.
« Je tiens à féliciter le personnel scolaire des collèges d'avoir réussi à négocier un
accord de principe qui contribue à protéger et à entériner l'éducation de qualité
pour les étudiants », a déclaré Warren (Smokey) Thomas, le président du SEFPO.
« Cette ronde de négociations s'est avérée fructueuse, et je ne saurais en dire
assez sur l'excellence du travail de l'équipe de négociation et sur la façon
exceptionnelle dont elle a représenté ses membres », a souligné Mark Kotanen,
négociateur au SEFPO. « Tout a bien été fait et on a prêté attention tant aux
détails qu'aux enjeux plus importants. »
« Le personnel scolaire des collèges est ici d'abord et avant tout pour les
étudiants. Et nous estimons que cet accord de principe le démontre clairement »,
a encore dit Kotanen.
Le SEFPO représente plus de 12 000 membres du personnel scolaire à charge
partielle et à temps plein dans les collèges de l'Ontario. Le personnel scolaire est
composé des conseillers, instructeurs, professeurs et bibliothécaires.
