Caractérisation moléculaire de l’olfaction chez ces oiseaux. Thèmes de recherche développés : Etude analytique des molécules organiques volatiles composant la signature olfactive de différents oiseaux dans le but de déterminer l’implication des différentes classes de composés chimiques dans les phénomènes de reconnaissance entre individus, le choix du partenaire sexuel ainsi que l’orientation. Etude moléculaire de l’olfaction des oiseaux et mise en place de tests in vitro : Les mécanismes moléculaires régissant l’olfaction chez les oiseaux sont pour l’heure très mal connus. Nous étudions certains des gènes de récepteurs olfactifs (OR) présents chez Halobaena caerula et développons des tests in vitro permettant de cribler les molécules odorantes isolées à partir de différents échantillons (plumes, glande uropygiale, …). Les molécules les plus intéressantes seront ensuite utilisées lors des études comportementales chez l’oiseau réalisées en terrain sub-antartique (ïles Kerguelen).
