Speaker: Dr. Mark G. Allen (CNRS, Chargé de Recherche, Centre de donnees Astronomiques de Strasbourg). Short bio: Dr. Mark G. Allen is a CNRS research scientist at the observatoire astronomique de Strasbourg. He has 13 years of experience implementing e-Science projects in Astronomy within the Strasbourg Data Centre (CDS) and EC funded European Virtual Observatory (Euro-VO) projects. He is the chair of the International Virtual Observatory Alliance (IVOA) Committee for Science Priorities. As Euro-VO project scientist he has engaged and coordinated astronomical data centres, software engineers and scientists in the development and use of the Virtual Observatory framework. He obtained his PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the Australian National University in 1998. After a postdoctoral position at the Space Telescope Science Institute (1998-2001) he joined the Observatoire de Strasbourg and became a CNRS research scientist in 2004. In 2015 Dr. Allen will take up the Directorship of the CDS.
