Global Chalice Lighting for March 2016
ICUU announces the 151st in its monthly global chalice lighting readings. Congregations worldwide are invited to use
the reading for at least one worship service in the designated month, identifying it as the “ICUU Global Chalice
Lighting” for that month. This Global Chalice Lighting was originally submitted by the General Assembly of Unitarian
and Free Christian Churches (UK).
ENGLISH:
All around the world, the light of honest thought shines, showing people the path to
their own authentic faith.
All around the world, the warmth of community glows, drawing people in from
loneliness and estrangement.
All around the world, the flame of justice burns, inspiring people to acts of faith-filled
courage.
Here, too, may the light and warmth of this chalice be to us a beacon of truth,
generosity and compassion, that we may learn the ways of faith and love.

FRENCH:
Tout autour du monde, la lumière de la pensée honnête brille, montrant aux gens le
chemin de leur propre foi authentique.
Tout autour du monde, la chaleur de la communauté brille, attirant les gens depuis leur
solitude et de leur éloignement.
Tout autour du monde, la flamme de la Justice brûle, inspirant à des actes de courage
pleins de foi.
Ici, aussi, puissent la lumière et la chaleur de ce calice être pour nous un phare de
vérité, de générosité et de compassion, que nous puissions apprendre les voies de la
foi et de l'amour.

Einsamkeit und Entfremdung zu sich heranzieht.
Überall auf der Welt brennt die Flamme der Gerechtigkeit, die die Menschen zu
mutigem Handeln aus ihrer Glaubensüberzeugung heraus inspiriert.
Möge auch hier das Licht und die Wärme dieses Leuchters uns ein Leuchtfeuer der
Wahrheit, Großzügigkeit und des Mitgefühls sein,
damit wir die Wege von Glauben und Liebe erkennen.
