SAFWAF MPV is a fully independent, reliable
and regular multi-purpose liner shipping
service from South Africa to West Africa.
This MPV service has been in continuous
existence for more than 2 decades.
ABOUT SAFWAF MPV
• The service presently calls Cape Town,
Durban and Walvis Bay on the Southern
African coastline and at Matadi, Boma,
Pointe Noire and Luanda/Sonils terminal
in West Africa on a scheduled basis.
• Port Gentil, amongst other ports on route
up to Dakar are offered on an
inducement basis.
• The service accommodates for bagged
and unitised cargoes, conventional
cargo e.g. vehicles, machinery,
transformers, oil and gas consignments,
min bulk, rail cargo and steel structures
and containers.
• All vessels are geared and have a heavy
lift capacity of up to 160 tons.
• Full IMDG/IMO capable enabling
acceptance of all IMO classes including
IMO 1 and IMO 7.
• Cargoes are uplifted on a liner, spot and
contract of affreightment basis.
• SAFWAF MPV have offices in Durban,
Cape Town and Johannesburg
• MPV personnel and agency network
have extensive experience and expertise
in operating in developing West Africa,
making providing solutions in difficult
areas our specialty.
• Dedicated trade management locally
based in South Africa offering prompt
response times and decisions and direct
customer interface where required.
• The present Line Management of
SAFWAF MPV is jointly held by James
Lewer and Pamela Yerushalmy, wellknown professionals in The SA Maritime
Industry with vast exposure to shipping
in West Africa.
• Ownership of SAFWAF MPV is held by
Fairseas International, a shipping and
freight logistics group based in Cape
Town, established in 2005 and who
acquired the SAFWAF MPV service from
Safmarine effective 1 February 2016.
Fairseas are BIMCO owner members
and have uplifted in excess of 4 million
freight tons since their inception. The
core services of Fairseas are focused on
regional and international bulk and
breakbulk seafreight chartering and
brokering activities, freight
management and logistics and
providing consultancy services to cargo
interests and parties invested in
shipping activities.
