Not bad for a first season! Toy Collection for Canuck Place Dear Laronde Elementary students and parents, Please join us in collecting used toys to raise money for Wilson's second annual Canuck Place Children's Hospice fundraiser!!!! Every year Canuck Place provides respite, family support, pain and symptom management, end-‐of-‐life care and bereavement services to over 500 newborns, children, youth and their families with progressive life-‐threatening conditions. At the age of 10, Wilson was diagnosed with NCL Type III (Batten's Disease), a terminal, degenerative disease. Wilson had stayed at Canuck Place many times throughout his life, and loved every minute of his time there. Wilson once told me that toys were very important because they got him through the bad days, eased his pain and helped him when he was afraid. Two years ago Wilson told me of his goal to raise money to buy toys for the children of Canuck Place to help them through their bad days and ease their fears. In 2015, with the help of Laronde families, Wilson achieved his goal and raised over $10,000 worth of toys and art therapy supplies for the children of Canuck Place!!! Wilson always said that this was the greatest achievement of his life...Wilson passed away on December 10, 2015 just a few days after his 22nd birthday and only a few months after completing the fundraiser. A few weeks before he passed away, Wilson made me promise to continue his fundraiser in order to help the other sick children of Canuck Place. This was Wilson's life wish #2, and his most treasured wish. What can you do to help? 1. Donate used toys When? May 18th,19th and 20th at the front entrance of the school What time? 8am-‐9am and 2pm-‐3:30pm each day 2.
