1. Description
1.1. Structure of the association
1.1.1 Students of the Raid Centrale Paris association organize the Prologue of the Raid Centrale
Paris. Its president is handed down by the president of the association UDE Manifestation of
Centrale Paris, under the 1901 law.
1.1.2. One president, two vice-presidents, one treasurer and a secretary-general constitute the
managing team of this association.
1.1.3. During the event, this managing team is in relation with a medical team.
1.1.4. The managing team and the race direction might have to modify some rules. Competitors
will have access to these modifications thanks to the internet website :
http://www.raidecp.net/
1.2. The Prologue
1.2.1. It will take place from the evening of February, Friday 27th to the evening of February,
Saturday 28th 2015, in Suisse Normande (France).
1.2.2. The main trials will be running, mountain biking and orienteering.
1.3. Participation conditions
1.3.1. Team composition and registration
1.3.1.1. Student, students-company (mixed), and company teams can run the Prologue.
1.3.1.2. There must be at least one girl out of 4 people in each team.
1.3.1.3. Competitors who are students must be between 18 and 26 on February, 28th. Some
exceptional exemption might be given to students who ask for it.
1.3.1.4. Each team must choose a captain, who will be in relation with the race direction.
1.3.1.5. You can register on the website: http://www.raidecp.net. If you need more
information, check the page « Register for the Prologue » in the « registration » tab.
1.3.1.6. The Prologue is a race run by teams of 4. After February, 21 st, you won’t be able to
change your team members.

1.3.2. Commitments
1.3.2.1. Competitors agree to read and sign these regulations. The organization is not responsible
if they aren’t respected.
1.3.2.2. Competitors agree to accept living conditions and trials in nature, which can be tough.
1.3.2.3. Like in other sporting events, fair play is welcomed during the trials. Competitors are
courteous with everybody on the Raid. Their behaviour will be judged by the organization.
1.3.2.4. Competitors agree to all the formality asked by the organization, especially the
ceremonies, medical inspection – conditions explained in 3.4-, and itinerary inspection –
conditions explained in 2-.
1.3.2.5. Competitors agree to videos or photos of them which could then be used for posters,
teasers, brochures or press articles.
1.3.2.6. The use of drugs is strictly forbidden (law 99-223 of March, 23rd of 1999).
1.3.2.7. Competitors are responsible for their acts, according to laws in force.
1.3.3. Environmental commitments
1.3.3.1. The Prologue respects nature (its organization conforms with the ISO 14001 norm since
2005). Therefore, competitors commit to respect environment. More particularly, it’s strictly
forbidden to litter either the itinerary or the camp site.
1.3.3.2. Competitors commit to comply with selective sorting of the waste and information given
at the beginning of the Prologue. If they don’t, they might get sanctions concerning their
ranking.
1.3.4. Registration procedures
1.3.4.1 A team registration is confirmed when the organization receives the whole registration
file, before February, 1st 2015.
1.3.4.2. Students must also send a photocopy of their current student card when they register.
1.3.4.3. Competitors must also provide a non-contra indication medical certificate for the practice
of mountain bike and run in competition. The organization won’t accept any certificate done
before February, 27th 2014.
1.3.4.4 Competitors must date and sign the certification of the 2015 Prologue regulation. This
document can be found on the website.

1.3.4.5. Registration fees are, for each competitor:
- 44 € (including the rent of mountain bikes)
- 17 € if you want to take a shuttle from Antony on Friday evening, and come back by shuttle to
Antony on Saturday evening. You can book a shuttle on the website when you register.
Cheques are payable to “Raid Centrale Paris”.
1.3.4.6. Each competitor has to provide a 400€ security deposit. The organization will cash the
cheque if the material damage is not fixed by the competitor.
1.3.4.7. If something unexpected happens, a team can ask for its registration to be cancelled.
Cheques will be destroyed and the registration will be cancelled if a team is on the waiting list.
2. Race
2.1. General rules
2.1.1. Itinerary
2.1.1.1. Each team is given a Roadbook, which contains a description of the itinerary and of
trials.
2.1.1.2. The race direction might have to change the itinerary and the trials. Modifications will be
given to competitors, who have to respect the new rules and not the ones given before.
2.1.1.3. Any information given by a member of the organization has priority on what’s written in
the Roadbook, especially in hazardous areas.
2.1.1.4. If you have to cross a road, respect the Highway Code.
2.1.1.5. Respect regulations and stay on the itinerary when crossing a nature reserve.
2.1.1.6. Competitors mustn’t pick plants or stones on the itinerary.
2.1.2. Itinerary inspection
2.1.2.1. At any moment on the race, different team members must be able to see each other and
hear each other. If not, the team will be considered as a 3 people team.
2.1.2.2. Competitors agree to conform to all the formalities given on start, arrival and trials
inspections.
2.1.2.3. Teams have a 15 minute break on the 1st and 3rd check-points and a 30 minute break on
the 2nd. After these breaks, the timer starts again. Teams choose when they start running again.

2.1.2.4. Teams have to come to check points; each team captain must present himself with the
whole team.
2.1.2.5. Inspections might happen on the itinerary. The race direction can punish a team which
doesn’t follow the right itinerary, and this team will have to catch up the right track where it had
lost it.
2.1.2.6. Time to run from one check point to another is limited. If a team arrives too late, it will
be driven to the camp site or will follow an alternative itinerary.
2.1.2.7. Moreover, a member of the organization will remove the markers.
2.1.2.8. Some parts of the itinerary may not be timed. Competitors then have a limited amount
of time and a schedule to respect.
2.1.2.9. The timer stops when the last member of the team arrives.
2.1.3. Gear
2.1.3.1. Each competitor is given a number sign, which has to be worn at all times and be visible.
2.1.3.2. Competitors must have the following gear :
Mandatory gear :
Per team :


A compass
One loaded mobile phone (to use in case of emergency) in a warterproof pouch (in case
of rain)

One bike pump (see bike characteristics), tire levels, puncture repair kit, a cycling multi
tool and a chain tool (to repair bikes during the race)
One whistle
One first aid kit (containing disinfecting spray, compresses, adhesive tape…)
At least one member of the team : a big headlamp (at least 100 lumen).Others can
have a less powerful one.



Per contestant :







One backpack to carry food, water and material during the race
Biking gloves
Trail running shoes
Warm clothes and rain gear
Canteen or camel back
One headlamp with extra batteries (for Friday night)
Eyeglasses if wearing contact lenses

For accommodations on Friday night (this equipment will be transported by the
staff on Saturday):




One ground pad
One sleeping bag
One tag per bag that shows your team number
A change of clothes for the night and for Saturday
Advisable gear






Rope and carabineer for traction during the race (for running only)
Spare air chambers
Spare bicycle chain (for 9 gears)
One pair of trekking poles per team to be used in case of tendinitis
One lightweight kneepad
One bike map holder
Prohibited equipment




Positioning system (GPS, maps…)
Personal transportation
Material changes on the bicycles, such as automatic pedals or compressed air capsules
Weapons (all categories), alcohol, doping products and drugs
The managing team reserves the right to complete this list.
2.1.3.3. The organization supplies any equipment not mentioned in 2.1.3.2 and necessary for the
Prologue.
2.1.3.4. Gear inspection can be done anytime.
2.1.3.5. The organization reserves the right to forbid any equipment that might favour a team.
2.1.3.6. Contestants are responsible for the equipment supplied by the organization.
2.1.3.7. If you notice a failure in your equipment, please ask the organization.
2.1.3.8. Plan to be able to carry food with you.
2.1.3.9. Contestants won’t have to carry their items during the race, only food and gear
mentioned in 2.1.3.2.

2.1.4. Security
2.1.4.1. Teams have to stay cautious and prudent during the race. Security is a priority.
2.1.4.2. Any lost team has to do everything they can to catch up the itinerary rapidly.
2.1.4.3. Use your mobile phone if in danger or if you can’t find the itinerary, in order to give your
approximate position.
2.1.4.4. Drinking and eating during the trials is under your responsibility. Food and drink are
supplied by the organization on check-points and on the camp site.
2.1.4.5. During the race, in case of an accident or if in doubt, doctors are available.
2.1.5. Accidents
2.1.5.1. If a contestant has an accident and can't move, his team will phone the person in charge
of the medical staff.
2.1.5.2. If the phone doesn't function, a team member should meet with a member of the
organization who has a walkie talkie. A least one valid member has to stay with the injured
contestant.
2.1.5.3. Any competitor must help anyone in great difficulty, even if he isn't part of his team or
isn’t competitor. If not, he might be banned for life.
2.2. Some specific rules
2.2.1. Mountain Bike
2.2.1.1. The organization supplies mountain bikes. Any modification on these bikes is forbidden
(especially adding automatic pedals).
2.2.1.2. Rope and carabineer for traction are forbidden during mountain bike trials, under penalty
of sanction.
2.2.1.3. Helmets, supplied by the organization, and gloves must be worn at all times. Contestants
who bring their own helmet or sticks are responsible for it, and will have to carry them.
2.2.1.4. Sharing a bike is forbidden.
2.2.1.5. Contestants have to inform other competitors when passing.
2.2.1.6. Contestants have to control their bikes. In case of doubt, continue by foot.

2.2.1.7. The organization supplies one spare air chamber and a 5 puncture repair kit per team.

2.2.1.8. During the race, competitors have to fix their bikes without any other equipment than the
one mentioned above. They also have to adjust the derailleurs.
2.2.1.9. The organization isn’t responsible for mechanical problems on mountain bikes, but might
counterbalance it.
2.2.1.10. Any abandonment of a mountain bike without the permission of a member of the
organization may result in cashing the security deposit.
2.2.1.11 Used mountain bikes should be left in places planned by the organization.
2.2.1.12. Between trials, mountain bikes are kept by the organization.
2.2.2. Night race
2.2.2.1. During a night trial, having a headlamp is mandatory.
2.2.2.2. Competitors should be particularly vigilant.
2.2.3. Orienteering
2.2.3.1. Orienteering is a trial which consists in finding markers using a map.
2.2.3.2. Each competitor should follow a procedure given by the organization to justify the
markers found.
2.2.3.3. Each team has a limited amount of time to do this trial. A team can choose to stop doing
the trial before the end of the allocated time.
2.2.3.4. If a team doesn’t find a marker, it will have a penalty (the scoring scale is given before the
trial).
2.2.3.5. During orienteering, members of the same team must stay together. If not, they may
have a penalty.
2.2.3.6. Some regulations might be added before the Prologue. Competitors will be informed.
3. General measures
3.1. Ranking
3.1.1. The Prologue ranking is made with points. Each portion or trial gives points.

3.1.2. A 4 people team is given the totality of the points if they’ve done the trial together. If one
person doesn’t do the trial, a quarter of these points is not given, if two persons don’t do it half
the points isn’t given, and if three persons don’t do it three quarters.
3.1.3. If two teams have the same amount of points, sorting is done with the timer.
3.1.4. Some trials can lead do bonus or penalties in time or points.
3.1.5. If two teams have the same time, sorting is done with the age average of the team. The
youngest team is favored.
3.1.6. The organization reserves the right not to count a trial for all the teams in exceptional
circumstances.
3.1.7. Teams which don’t have a feminine member will be counted as a three people team.
3.1.8. Ranking takes into account trials other than trail or mountain bike. Competitors who have a
medical contra indication will not be penalized.
3.1.9. The general ranking is subdivided in company ranking and student ranking.
3.2. Claims
3.2.1.Claims are to be done by the team captain to the person in charge of contestants, who will
relay to the race direction.
3.2.2. Claims should be done quickly after the race (two hours maximum after the arrival).
3.2.3. The final decision is taken by the race direction for any claim.
3.3. Sanctions
3.3.1. Any lack of respect of the regulation can be punished with penalties.
3.3.2. Sanctions are (in ascending order): time penalty, points penalty, trial ban, total ban, ban
for life.
3.3.3. A particular attention is given to articles mentioning inspections, security or respect of
nature.
3.3.4. Any behavior judged unappropriate by the oragnization will be punished.
3.3.5. Any ban is decided by the president of the organization.
3.3.6. If a member of a three peolple team is banned, his team can’t be ranked.

3.3.7. The behavior of one contestant can lead to a penalty for his team.
3.4. Medical Records
3.4.1. Any medical problem should be told to the organization before February, 27th 2015.
3.4.2. Competitors should notify any problem appearing during the race.
3.4.3. The organization can force a competitor to see the medical staff.
3.4.4. The doctor in charge of the medical staff can make a contestant stop.
3.5. Withdrawals
3.5.1. Any person wishing to withdraw from the race should continue until the following check
point, except if he has a serious medical problem or if a member of the organization has clearly
mentioned it.
3.5.2. Any withdrawal is definitive.
3.5.3. A refusal to do a trial other than trail or mountain bike isn’t a withdrawal. The team will
only lose some points on this trial.
3.6. Equipment damages
3.6.1. Any damage on supplied equipment will be repaid.
3.6.2. The reimbursement total is decided by the association treasurer, after a discussion with the
concerned competitor.
3.6.3. If this reimbursement isn’t approved by the association president three weeks after the
event, the security deposit is cashed.
3.6.4. Contestants will have to repay for any deterioration made during the event.
