JALNAR AL KHALIDIAH MEETS ALL THE EXPECTATIONS
Unbeaten in three starts, the colt Jalnar Al Khalidiah
KSA (Tiwaiq) was held in high esteem by his trainer
Jean-François Bernard, whom he didn’t disappoint
when he won the Group 1 PA Prix Manganate
Shadwell in impressive style. The American filly
Burning Fancy USA (Burning Sand) had taken the
early lead in this race, which lacked pace, while Jalnar
Al Khalidiah KSA galloped in mid-division, followed by
his stable companion Nayef Al Khalidiah KSA (Calin
du Loup) and General GB (Amer), who was travelling
at the back of the field. When they entered the final
straight, Nieshan (Akbar) who had been following the
leader, launched the sprint. At that moment, Jalnar Al
Khalidiah KSA found the opening he needed and
followed suite, while General GB also accelerated
under Olivier Peslier, quickly joining the two horses in the lead. The three of them went away from the rest of the
field and the Jean-François Bernard trained Jalnar Al Khalidiah KSA lengthened beautifully to beat Nieshan,
who confirmed his recent performances. General GB, who was making his reappearance, finished third
following a satisfactory final effort in the final furlongs. Burning Fancy USA, who had been the early leader,
finished fourth. The Sandrine Tarrou trained Cambrydge (Zacan El Baraka), who had been galloping at the
back of the field, finished a promising sixth behind Al Anqa GB (Amer). Nayef Al Khalidiah KSA was
disappointing and finished seventh.
Jean-François Bernard was pleased with Jalnar Al Khalidiah’s KSA
performance and said: “His lack of experience was a bit of a worry but he
confirmed what I always thought. He is a very good horse. If everything
goes well, the Group 2 PA Prix Dragon might be on the agenda. That is if
the ground is soft. And then we will have a go at the Group 1 PA Qatar
Arabian World Cup. As to Nayef Al Khalidiah, we employed wrong tactics
today. We made him sit in behind and he never relaxed.” For Eric
Dell’Ova, Nieshan’s second place was like a victory. He said: “It is a
victory for me, especially considering the other very good runners. He is
a very consistent performer. I made a mistake last year by running him
too often. This season, we stuck with the program that we had originally
planned. We try to only run him against the four-year-olds before he will
come up against the older ones the day of the Arc in the Group 1 PA Qatar Arabian World Cup, where we hope
he can take advantage of being relatively fresh. I only have ten horses in training, so this is great. On top of it,
his owner who comes from an important family in Dubai, has always supported me and trusts me implicitly. We
can dream about Longchamp.” Alban de Mieulle was happy with General GB reappearance, when he
declared: “He needed this race. Olivier rode him accordingly, making him work over the last two and half
furlongs. He will come on from this. It’s all good.” As to Al Anqa GB, who finished in fifth’s place, he added: “She
is a bit limited at this level even though she has won a Group 1 PA at the age of three. She hasn’t really
improved much since and will go to stud.”

the Prix Manganate, which was this year incorporated in their sponsored day of the Prix Minerve, which proves

Arabian racing.

JALNAR AL KHALIDIAH RÉPOND AUX ATTENTES
Poulain invaincu en trois sorties, Jalnar Al Khalidiah
KSA (Tiwaiq) bénéficiait de toute l'estime de son
entraîneur Jean-François Bernard et y a répondu de
superbe manière, emportant facilement le Prix
Manganate Shadwell (Gr1 PA). Dans une course
menée à un train peu soutenu par la pouliche
américaine, Burning Fancy USA (Burning Sand),
Jalnar Al Khalidiah KSA s’est positionné au milieu du
petit peloton, devant son compagnon de casaque Nayef
A Khalidiah KSA (Calin du Loup) tandis que
General GB (Amer), a préféré attendre sagement à
l'arrière-garde. À l'entrée de la ligne droite, c'est
Nieshan (Akbar) qui a pris l'avantage, après avoir suivi
dans le sillage de l’animatrice. Jalnar Al Khalidiah KSA
a alors prononcé son effort tandis qu'un boulevard s'est
ouvert devant lui. General GB a entamé une remontée du peloton sous la poigne d'Olivier Peslier. Très
rapidement, ces trois chevaux se sont détachés et le pensionnaire de Jean-François Bernard, Jalnar Al Khalidiah
KSA, a allongé ses foulées de belle manière pour s'imposer suivi par Nieshan, qui a confirmé ses récentes
sorties. General GB, qui effectuait sa rentrée, s'est emparé de la troisième place à l'issue d'une bonne fin de
course. Burning Fancy USA, l'animatrice de l'épreuve, a obtenu une courageuse quatrième place. À noter la très
bonne ligne droite du pensionnaire de Sandrine Tarrou, Cambrydge (Zacan El Baraka), qui après avoir fermé la
marche durant tout le parcours, a terminé à une encourageante sixième place derrière Al Anqa GB (Amer).
Nayef A Khalidiah KSA a déçu en terminant septième.
Jean-François Bernard était satisfait de la performance de Jalnar Al
Khalidiah KSA nous déclarant :
"J'avais un peu peur de son inexpérience mais il n'a fait que confirmer ce
qu'on pensait de lui. C'est un très bon cheval. Pour la suite, si tout va bien,
il devrait aller sur le Prix Dragon (Gr2 PA), si la piste est suffisamment
souple, puis la Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr1 PA). Quand à Nayef Al
Khalidiah, on s'est trompé en changeant de tactique aujourd'hui. On l'a fait
attendre derrière, il s'est contracté et n'a jamais respiré. Il faut le revoir."
Pour Eric Dell' Ova, la deuxième place de Nieshan correspondait à une
victoire : " C'est en effet une victoire pour moi, surtout face à un adversaire
inapprochable. Il ne m'apporte que des satisfactions. C'est le meilleur 4 ans
pour le moment. J'avais fait des bêtises l'année dernière, le courant un peu trop. On s'est tenu au programme
que l'on s'était fixé cette année, essayant de n'affronter que les 4 ans jusqu'à aujourd'hui et avant d'affronter les
"vieux" le jour de l'Arc dans la Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr1 PA) où on jouera la carte de la fraîcheur. J'ai une
toute petite structure avec 10 chevaux à l'entraînement, c'est vraiment super. En plus, son propriétaire, une
importante famille dubaïote, m'a toujours soutenu et me fait entièrement confiance. On peut rêver jusqu'à
Longchamp." Alban de Mieulle était content de la rentrée de General GB, nous déclarant : " Il avait besoin de
cette course. Olivier l'a monté sagement, le faisant travailler dans les 300 derniers mètres. Il va progresser sur
cette sortie. C'est bien." Au sujet d’Al Anqa GB, cinquième, il nous a confié : " Elle se montre plus limitée. C'est
une classe en dessous même si elle a gagné un Gr1 PA à 3 ans. Elle n'a pas vraiment progressé là-dessus et
elle va rentrer au haras."
