Press Release - Theatre Raymond Kabbaz
For Immediate Release: October 18, 2016 Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz Presents The Los Angeles Premiere On ne peut pas rire de tout (We can’t laugh about everything) in Los Angeles Iconic French Actor Patrick Timsit’s One-Man Show Friday, February 10 and Saturday, February 11, 2016 In French (no subtitles) LOS ANGELES, CA –Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) is happy to welcome back French humorist and actor Patrick Timsit, for the Los Angeles premiere of his new oneman show; On ne peut pas rire de tout (We can’t laugh about everything) in Los Angeles, on Friday, February 10 and Saturday, February 11, 2016. Can one really laugh at everything? The actor and comedian Patrick Timsit, has decided to use humor and intelligence to answer the question himself by taking it to the stage for a thoroughly brilliant and witty show. Patrick Timsit likes to play with fire and make people laugh, even when it's not politically correct. Thanks to a huge dose of self-depreciation and a vivid sense of humor; it works. He likes playing the "bad guy" (the racist, the anti-Semitic, the macho, even the Nazi) and has a go at everyone. For him, "we can laugh about everything, what matters is how you laugh about it". Co-written with his accomplices always: Jean-François Halin and Bruno Gacci and directed by Ahmed Hamidi, nothing will escape his scathing irony. The performance will be in French. The 90-minute shows will start at 7:30pm and will take place at Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz, the innovative performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, 10361 W. Pico Blvd., Los Angeles CA 90064 (310-286-0553). Tickets are $60 for premium seating, $40 for adults and $30 for students. A no host bar will be available. Tickets are available online at http://tinyurl.com/nj7aulr. This event is part of a US tour, which includes stops in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Patrick Timsit – French comedian, screenwriter, and director Patrick Timsit has been nominated for four César Awards, France’s national film honor, three times as an actor and once as a writer. Born in Algeria, he fled to Paris with his family in 1961, a year before Algeria gained independence after nearly a decade of war. By the mid-1980s, Timsit was acting in movies. He is perhaps best known for the French comedy Un Indien Dans la Ville (1994). Other notable films in his career include Pédale Douce (1996), Dragon Hunters (2008), and Le Cousin (1997). He received Best Actor and Best Screenplay César nominations for Pédale Douce. He also received a Best Supporting Actor César nomination for La Crise (1992) and a Best Actor César nomination for Le Cousin. Timsit’s directing credits include Quasimodo d’El Paris (1999), Quelqu’un de Bien (2002), and L’Américain (2004). He has also starred onstage in L’Emmerdeur, which led to a 2008 film adaptation, as well as in his One Man Show. In 2012, with Thierry Lhermitte, he first performed a stage reading of Kressmann Taylor's book, Inconnu à Cette Adresse, at the Theater Antoine, at the Festival of Avignon, and on tour, where they met with tremendous success.
