« Charleston » est un jacquard de lin aux subtils effets mat et brillant : en surface, un fil de satin de soie vient décrire d’amples
mouvements cadencés. Dès l’année 1925, le Charleston fit sa grande entrée en France, directement importé des Etats-Unis. La
danseuse noire américaine Joséphine Baker, en se produisant sur la scène parisienne, en fut la plus grande ambassadrice.
“Charleston” is a linen jacquard with subtle matte and shiny effects: on the surface, a silken satin thread describes a broad, rhythmic
movement. As early as 1925, the Charleston appeared in France, imported directly from the United States. Josephine Baker, the black
American dancer, was its greatest ambassador when she appeared on the Parisian stage.
