NL Brussels Jazz Orchestra gaat samen met KVS voor het experiment: We Orchestrate
Words, van jazz over slam naar hiphop en terug. Toporkest meets urban artists. In de
eerste editie zijn dat Laryssa Kim, Gioia Kayaga aka Joy, Zed Soul’Art en als afsluiter dj
Future Fantastic.

FR Le Brussels Jazz Orchestra et le KVS s’associent pour l’expérience We Orchestrate Words,
qui va du jazz au hip-hop en passant par le slam et refait ensuite le chemin en sens inverse.
Un orchestre de très haut niveau rencontre des artistes urbains : pour la première édition,
il s’agira de Laryssa Kim, Gioia Kayaga aka Joy, Zed Soul’Art et dj Future Fantastic pour
clôturer le spectacle.

Voor elke SLOW-sessie wordt een internationale gast uitgenodigd. Hij of zij
zal na een residentie in Brussel het KVS-podium delen met lokale artiesten,
in een even heldhaftige als kwetsbare poging om de kleurrijke, veelzijdige ziel
van de stad in verzen te vatten.

Voor SLOW #01 is de Brits-Egyptische schrijfster en performer Sabrina
Mahfouz te gast. Feminisme en meer specifiek moslimfeminisme wordt
dan ook het centrale thema van deze editie. Mahfouz zal het podium delen
met Saraa Saleh (schrijver en docente aan de KUL) en dichteres en spoken
word artieste Anissa Boujdaini. Op basis van haar bezoek aan Brussel heeft
Mahfouz een tekst geschreven samen met Anissa Boujdaini, Saraa Saleh en
Nadia Fadil.

MO*) een debat waarin verschillende feministen en hun perspectieven aan bod komen, ism. Ella vzw.
FR Après le spectacle, et en partenariat avec Ella vzw, Najet Boulafdal
(correspondante du magazine MO*), modère un débat au cours duquel
différentes féministes interviendront et développeront leurs perspectives.

Lors de chaque session SLOW, un/e artiste international/e sera invité/e.
Après une résidence à Bruxelles il ou elle montera sur scène au KVS avec des
artistes locaux, dans une tentative aussi héroïque que vulnérable de saisir en
vers l’âme chatoyante, multiple de la ville.
 Najet Boulafdal
Pour SLOW #01, l’invitée est l’auteure et performer britannico-égyptienne
Sabrina Mahfouz. Un des sujets récurrents dans son travail est l’(in)égalité des
genres. Le féminisme et plus spécifiquement le féminisme musulman sera le
thème central de cette édition. Mahfouz partagera la scène avec Saraa Saleh
(écrivain et professeur à la KUL) et la poétesse et artiste spoken word Anissa
Boujdaini. Sur base de sa visite à Bruxelles, Mahfouz a écrit un texte avec
Anissa Boujdaini, Saraa Saleh et Nadia Fadil.

An international guest will be invited to each SLOW session. Following a
residency in Brussels, he or she will share the KVS stage with local artists, in
an attempt, both heroic and vulnerable, to capture the colourful, multi-faceted
soul of the city in verse.

For SLOW #01, the guest is the British-Egyptian writer and performer Sabrina
Mahfouz. One of the recurring topics in her work is gender equality. This
time, the main theme will be feminism, more particularly Muslim feminism.
Mahfouz will share the stage with Saraa Saleh (writer and lecturer at the KUL)
and the poetess and spoken word performer Anissa Boujdaini. Based on her
visit to Brussels, Mahfouz wrote a text together with Anissa Boujdaini, Saraa
Saleh and Nadia Fadil.
