THE VINTAGE
Exceptional vintage, the best till 2005 (and 2000 = vintage of the century), dry spring
and summer, sunny and cool weather, no rain at harvest. It does explain the richness of
the wines in Bordeaux.
SITUATION
The estate is located in the heart of the Médoc region of Bordeaux, in
the Haut Médoc Appellation. It is ideally placed between the Margaux
and St-Julien appellations
TERROIR
75% of the vineyard is on a terroir of the famous “Grave Garonnaise”
and 25% of the vineyard presents a Clay on Limestone terroir, both
yielding beautiful grapes every year.
IN THE VINEYARD
Everything is done to balance the vine naturally with our terroir. The
vineyard has an average age of 35 years.
WINEMAKING
Chateau Haut Plantey is made using traditional Bordeaux vinification techniques. The
alcoholic fermentation lasts 8 -10 days at moderate temperatures. Tank aging is used to
emphasize the fruit and freshness of the wine.
GRAPES
Merlot : 60%, Cabernet sauvignon : 30%
