Afin de promouvoir l’activité physique et une The health promoting school approach C hildren and young people in our European countries learn about sport and physical activity in school from an early age. Being physically active and taking part in sports is regarded as part of a healthy lifestyle, and therefore is included in the health promoting school approach. In Europe the Schools for Health in Europe network –SHE network- is operating since to support and implement the health promoting school approach in member states in the European region. In most of these countries there is a national health promoting school programme. It promotes a positive and democratic way of teaching children and young people about health promotion. It looks at developing children’s competences in understanding and influencing their lifestyles and their living conditions, rather than giving knowledge about diseases and risk behaviour. www.schoolsforhealth.eu www.hepseurope.eu The health promoting school approach looks at the health and wellbeing of pupils and school staff. Over the last decades there is sufficient evidence of improving health as well as learning outcomes of pupils and staff well-being. Introducing and promoting sport at school through this approach is the most efficient and sustainable way. To support introducing healthy eating and physical activity in schools the HEPS project was developed. It stimulates EU member states to have effective national policy for schools in place. Several tools are now available, including the HEPS guidelines (for national policy), the HEPS inventory tool (for improving the quality of school programmes on healthy eating and physical activity) and the HEPS tool for schools (to help setting up and implementing a school policy). This tool is translated in languages and also available online. These tools can be used for promoting sport in schools as part of the health promoting school approach., which is the most sustainable way forward. © ED GRAY, CAPE TOWN CENTRAL TRAIN STATION, MEDIUM: ACRYLIC, CHALK, CHARCOAL, SIZE: XCMS Journal ● Sport, School and Physical Education alimentation saine dans les établissements scolaires, le projet HEPS a été développé.
