We ask you to be aware and understanding, especially with older students, and help them to be better organised with regular study and revision. Equally don’t forget that a break with simple walks, talks and play is very valuable too. The French National testing in Years 2 and 5 will be conducted in weeks 3 and 4. This testing provides an opportunity to assess, individually and collectively, the level of our students in regard to French national standards. The data from the assessments is also used to write student reports at the end of semester. The first French ‘Science Week’ was celebrated across the school at the start of term. The events included: a conference delivered by Professor Arculus to Year 6, 7 and 10 students; Questacon Science show for Kindergarten and Year 1; Science workshop prepared by Monsieur Coget’s Year 7 French stream for Year 2; Bilingual science lessons in Year 9; visits to labs; Science workshops prepared by Year 6 for kindergarten. Thank you to everyone for helping to make this initiative a success and we look forward to an even bigger French Science week next year. On Thursday, a number of staff had the great privilege of attending the Alliance Francaise to see 13 of our students perform and receive prizes for their recitations of French poems. Thank you to the staff who prepared these students and to Laurence Barthelemy, for the overall organization of the competition. The successful students were: Lily de Meyer (K), Remy Gutman and Elie Tremblay (year 1), Isabelle Chiron and Zoe Tammer (year 2), Jacinta Cordel-Kamai and Zoe Brown (year 3), Coline Moncuquet and Maëlle Boutraud (year 4), Rebecca Dos Santos and Mia Davies (year 5) and Lea Casella and Thais Boutraud (year 6) Over the next fortnight, Mrs Cribb and teachers are preparing the dances and performances for La Grande Fête. We sincerely thank the P&C for the invaluable contribution this annual event brings to the school. The energy and effort of many, help make this a fabulous event for the school community. Please make sure to mark the date, Saturday 7 th November to come and enjoy the day together. Good luck with that trip to Paris! The schools sustainability project has recently gained an accreditation for waste management. Jenny Dibley, from ACT Sustainability Programs, presented the school with a certificate and teaching resources to help continue this important work. Students have been using the colour-coded bins very well. This is a timely reminder that we will have a 2016 Kindy Parent Meeting on Wednesday 4th November at 5.30pm. Please continue to support us in the regular request for - Use of the Communication Book to keep teachers informed of any student needs or changes. Check for due dates of paperwork and payments for all excursions. This helps us enormously with administration and smooth preparation with any event. Check bags and messages daily! Please do not allow your children onto the playground equipment before or after school. Timely arrival to class is appreciated. Playground supervision by Staff starts at 8.30 am. Safe, respectful and legal traffic behaviour at drop-off and pick-up time. Thank you for the help and support throughout the term. THE FETE IS ON SATURDAY NOV 7th!
