PERFECT EQUALITY AT LE MANS
The duel between the Czech Adam Kout (MSkart / DEA) and the German Peter Elkmann (MSkart /
VM) continued on 3rd to 5th July on the Bugatti circuit of Le Mans, in a heat wave for the second Competition of the 2015 CIK-FIA European Superkart Championship. The two protagonists continuously
traded attacks, leaving behind the opposition and continuing the rivalry started at Donington.
In the first Qualifying Session, Peter Elkmann was in the ascendancy until Adam Kout posted a lap of 1’35’’436, two tenths
faster, at the end of the session. Their competitors had no other objective than to be as close as possible. Andreas Jost (Anderson / VM) found an effective set-up and set the third fastest time. Henrik Lilja (PVP / PVP) was with him on the second row and
the British team-mates Liam Morley and Gavin Bennett (Anderson / DEA) were on the next row. The second session was more
strategic, and Elkmann improved to 1’35’’486, 5 hundredths from pole position.
Elkmann has the edge in the first head to head.
The high temperature ended with a passing storm before Race 1 which started on a wet track. The first lap proved tricky for the
back of the pack, but the first row got away without incident. Lilja, Jost and Morley went with him but Bennett made a mistake.
Restarting in 24th place, he then enlivened the event by coming back to 9th place. The leading duo escaped unsurprisingly with
Elkmann remaining hidden in Kout’s wheel tracks before overtaking on lap 8. Lilja slowed down and was overtaken by Morley
and Jost. Lilja sped up again on the last lap, avoiding yielding to Vesa Lehtinen (Anderson / DEA). Jason Dredge (Anderson /
PVP) confirmed his promising performance at Donington.
The return match goes to Kout
For the second Race the track had time to dry. Several from the right hand starting line were ahead when the lights went out,
but the usual hierarchy was soon re-formed with no real surprise. Kout took the lead again, from the second lap setting times
near the record (1’34’’918). Elkmann seemed in trouble and could not keep pace with Kout who got away irretrievably. In third
position, Jost kept his compatriot in focus until the attack on Morley. Maasmann, Lilja and Bennett were tight before Bennett’s race
was over following an engine failure. The Race was bouncing when Kout was hampered when passing a delayed Driver. He
lightly touched the wall then lost his lead over Elkmann who was surprised to suddenly catch up with the leader. But the Czech
did not lose his way in the incident and was able to to regain a slight margin over his rival at the finish. Morley was again on
the podium. The Briton, who had experienced many setbacks until then, was smiling. Jost took a second 4th position, which he
was fully satisfied with.
In the provisional classification of the Championship, the two favourites will meet once more on completely equal points. The last
Competition at Assen from July 31st to August 2nd, will provide the outcome of this suspense.

ÉGALITÉ PARFAITE AU MANS
Le duel entre le Tchèque Adam Kout (MSkart/ DEA) et l’Allemand Peter Elkmann (MSkart /VM) s’est
prolongé du 3 au 5 juillet sur le circuit Bugatti du Mans, sous la canicule lors de la seconde Compétition du Championnat d’Europe FIA-CIK de Superkart 2015. Les deux protagonistes se sont constamment donné la réplique, laissant sur place la concurrence et continuant le match entamé à Donington.
En 1ère Séance Qualificative, Peter Elkmann prenait l’ascendant jusqu’à ce qu’Adam Kout ne réalise un tour en 1’35’’436, deux
dixièmes plus vite, en fin de session. Leurs concurrents n’avaient d’autre objectif que se placer le moins loin possible. Andréas
Jost (Anderson /VM) retrouvait une mécanique efficace et s’octroyait le 3e temps. Henrik Lilja (PVP/PVP) l’accompagnait sur la
seconde ligne et les deux coéquipiers Britanniques Liam Morley et Gavin Bennett (Anderson /DEA) s’offraient la ligne suivante.
La seconde Séance était plus stratégique, Elkmann améliorait en 1’35’’486, à 5 centièmes seulement de la pole position.
Avantage Elkmann dans le premier face à face.
La forte chaleur finissait par faire éclater un orage passager avant la Course 1 qui s’élançait sur une piste mouillée. Le 1er tour
se révélait délicat pour la fin du peloton, mais la première ligne s’envolait sans encombre. Lilja emmenait Jost et Morley avec lui
pour les accessits. Bennett partait à la faute. Relancé au 24e rang, il animait ensuite l’épreuve en remontant jusqu’à la 9ème
place. Le duo de tête s’était échappé sans surprise, Elkmann restant blotti dans les roues de Kout avant de le déborder au 8e
tour. Lilja connaissait une baisse de régime et se faisait dépasser par Morley, puis Jost. Lilja se reprenait dans le dernier tour,
évitant ainsi de céder à Vesa Lethinen (Anderson/DEA). Jason Dredge (Anderson/PVP) confirmait sa prestation prometteuse de
Donington.
Le match retour pour Kout
Pour la seconde course, la piste avait eu le temps de sécher. La ligne droite de départ était entamée à plusieurs de front dès
l’extinction des feux, mais la hiérarchie habituelle ne tardait pas à se reformer sans réelle surprise. Kout prenait à nouveau le
leadership, réalisant dès le second passage un temps proche du record (1’34’’918). Elkmann semblait en difficulté et ne parvenait pas à suivre le rythme de Kout qui s’enfuyait irrémédiablement. En 3e position, Jost gardait son compatriote en point de
mire jusqu’à l’attaque de Morley. Maasmann, Lilja et Bennett faisaient une course serrée avant que Bennett ne disparaisse suite
à une casse moteur. La course rebondissait lorsque Kout était gêné en revenant sur un attardé. Il touchait légèrement le mur et
perdait son avance sur Elkmann, surpris de recoller soudainement au leader. Mais le Tchèque ne perdait pas ses moyens dans
l’incident et se permettait de reprendre une légère marge sur son rival à l’arrivée. Morley montait de nouveau sur le podium. Le
Britannique, qui avait connu beaucoup de déboires jusque-là, retrouvait le sourire. Jost assurait une seconde 4e position, ce qui
le satisfaisait pleinement.
Au classement provisoire du Championnat, les deux favoris se retrouvent encore une fois à égalité parfaite. La dernière Compétition, à Assen du 31 juillet au 2 août, fournira l’épilogue de ce suspense.

Adam Kout : « Quelle frayeur en cette fin de Course 2 ! J’ai vu le mur de très près et je ne sais franchement pas si j’aurais pu
effectuer davantage de tours. Toutefois, je suis ravi d’offrir cette victoire à mon équipe qui l’a bien méritée. »
Peter Elkmann : «Je tiens à préciser que je ne cachais pas mon jeu pour attaquer Adam en Course 1. Les conditions se sont
légèrement améliorées et j’ai pu en profiter pour accélérer et gagner. Dans la seconde course, je n’ai pas compris pourquoi je
ne pouvais pas aller plus vite. Heureusement cela reste sans conséquences sérieuses et rien n’est perdu pour le titre… »
