Governor General Medal Secondary Schools – Bronze Medal A BRONZE medal will be awarded to the student who achieves the highest average upon graduation. The average includes all grade 11 and grade 12 courses as listed on the student’s official Transcript of Grades issued by the Ministry of Education. The average cannot be anticipated; it must be calculated based on final results after provincial/territorial examinations, where the Ministry of Education requires final exams. Equitability of access for the entire student population is an important aspect of the Medal’s value. Regardless of the stream or the subjects chosen, all students are eligible for consideration upon graduation. Courses taken after graduation to upgrade marks are not to be included. LA FURIE On September 29, Grades 10, 11 and 12 students headed to Whittier Park in St.Boniface to participate in "La Furie". La Furie is a Francophone youth rally that provides an opportunity for youth to live their Francophonie outside the school context and to create links with other young people sharing their interests. The first gathering of its kind took place 25 years ago during the International Year of the Youth. This year, 1000 students participated in this annual event! The day ended with a great concert by a musical group from Montreal called OrangeOrange. 4 It was the best! There was a lot of activities to chose from like dance, gymnastics, henna tatoos, duct tape, volleyball, wild hair, etc... You chose two activities for the morning, then there was lunch (included in the field trip) and free time. There were bands in the afternoon. There was 1000 students that participated and there were prizes to be won. Everybody had school spirit... some people even dyed their hair and painted their bodies. From beginning to end, you are brought into this awesome atmosphere. You can't help but get excited. I liked it. It was a good day. We had good opportunities to interact with a lot of other French speaking kids. It was a lot of fun like last year!!! The food was good and the activities were OK too!! I had lots of fun with my friends!! La Furie was OK overall. The activities weren't that great but the free time was all fun time with the blow-up things like foosball and boxing. We spent the day doing all sorts of activities and enjoying French music. It was a fantastic experience for every immersion student ! I enjoyed this gathering of all senior immersion students. It was such a fun experience that I want to attend again next year. And it's even more fun when you go all out and get dressed crazy.
