This canvas was commissioned by the de Lintelhac family, whom lived at 10 Rue Auber in Paris. The Lintelhac
family were the founders of the "Assurances de vie" in France at the beginning of the 20th century. The hunting club
represented on this canvas is the "Équipage Lebaudy" (1891-1936), founded by Paul Lebaudy. This important
French family had gained their fortune with the refinement of sugar during the 19th century, during the beginning of
the 20th century, Paul and Pierre Lebaudy became famous for their experiments with dirigible air balloons and
zeppelins at the start of the First World War. The "équipage Lebaudy" hunted on wild boars and deer in Avon near
Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne) during the winter and at Château de Rosny-sur-Seine (Seine-et-Oise) during the
summer. Their hunting dress exists of red vests with green velvet collars, white trousers and hunting boots. The
woman represented on this work is "La Marquise de Rose", better known as Madeleine Tavernier, the artist's
daughter whom hunted together with her father in the "Équipage Lebaudy".
Fanfare song "La Lebaudy" :
"Voyez ces veneurs intrépides
Courant là-bas dans les halliers
Au galop de coursiers rapides
Au fourré comme en débucher.
