For Lille, the artist has devised the Traffic Jam exhibition has an immense junction caught in a traffic jam, everyone seeking a way to get through the overcrowded stalls, fragile sculptures, and animated scaffolding. Tayou belongs to the generation of African artists who are r redefining postcolonial culture and combining the experiences of their origins with those of Europe where they now live. The Human Being@work installation, acclaimed by the critics during the last Venice Biennale, will be at the heart of the exhibition, which will be completed by old and new works, some of them inviting visitors' participation. Free. o « Finoglio » Paolo Domenico Finoglio 22 April – 12 July 2010 Palais des Beaux-Arts For the first time in France, the Lille Fine Arts Museum will exhibit the ten monumental canvas paintings by the Neapolitan baroque painter Paolo Domenico Finoglio (1590-1645), which were inspired by Torquato Tasso‟s poem about the First Crusade: “Liberated Jerusalem”. Taking a special place in the centre of the museum, the whole series will be presented in contemporary staging by the plastic artist, filmmaker and writer Alain Fleischer. This museography will restore the monumental impression given by the canvas paintings, which have never 1 before been exhibited outside of their original environment, the Conversano castle. Producing, analysing, showing and demonstrating what is a sound are the main themes of this exhibition, aimed for the general public. From rare instruments to surprising objects, visitors can understand what really “makes” a sound. The beauty and the special features of some objects on display are another highlight of this exhibition. Many famous pianists, such as Aldo Ciccolini, Nicolaï Lugansky, Anatol Ugorski, Lydia Jardon, Denis Kozhukhin, Till Felner, Ewa Kupiec, Jean-Philippe Collard, Alexei Lubimov, Konstantin Lifschitz, Paul Badura-Skoda, Igor Tchetuev, HoJeong Lee and Giancarlo Crespeau, will be invited to play with the Lille National Orchestra, directed by Jean-Claude Casadesus, Zhong Xu and Paul Mann.
