Les médecins de famille passent leur message sur YouTube

Si les Québécois sont nombreux à se plaindre de ne pas avoir de médecin de famille, ces derniers
sont eux aussi excédés de laisser leurs patients en plan pendant des semaines, et de devoir dire
non à de nombreux autres. La Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ) passe
depuis mercredi son message sur YouTube, histoire d'informer la population sur leur rôle.

Based on US EPA analysis of health impacts of power plant emissions of sulphur dioxide, nitrous
oxide and mercury, the Healthcare Energy Impact Calculator (EIC) estimates premature deaths,
chronic bronchitis, asthma attacks, emergency room visits and more, by kilowatt hour per year.
The EIC displays the projected number of incidents, estimates of medical treatment costs, their
external societal costs, and the likely emissions permit costs for the green house gas carbon
dioxide.

Hospital Economy: Change the Diapers Policy

Dr. Hellerstein led a campaign at the hospital to reduce solid waste, and in September 1989,
cloth, rather than disposable diapers, came into use. ''We decided to use the reusable diapers
because we wanted to diminish the waste,'' Dr. Hellerstein said. ''We also had hoped that we
could be a model in the community.''
Several hospitals on the West Coast have also begun to use cloth diapers and the trend is
expected to increase, said Jeanne Wirka, a policy analyst with the Environmental Action
Foundation in Washington.

A project to recycle diapers, in the UK

In the US, each year 27.4 billion diapers are thrown into landfills. In the UK, 8 million diapers a
day. To start to reduce this gigantic amount of trash, Companies Versus Energy and Knowaste
will together build a plant where diapers will be recycled, in the UK. It will open in May 2010 in
Birmingham. They plan to build four more plants. Diapers will come from nurseries, nursing
homes and hospitals.
