TBP 100 notice d`utilisation
The TBP 100 is designed to test the capacity (but not its state of load) of a battery (6V or 12V) to provide sufficient current to start a car as well as the load circuit (alternator) of the vehicle on which the battery is assembled. Before use of this product, read attentively this notice. Precautions of safety: Avoid sparking near a battery in load because it can cause a fire even an explosion. In the same way, when the battery installed in a vehicle is in test, the sparks can cause serious damage with the electronic system of the vehicle. Ensure that the red grip does not touch any other part of the vehicle. Do not pose the tester on the vehicle, his cap being out of metal, this one can cause a short circuit. Pay attention to clean the grips of the tester well after use. Initialisation : Before any measurement, check that the needle is to zero. If no, please regulate the apparatus with a screwdriver. Installation of the tester: Connect the red grip to the positive terminal and the black grip with the negative terminal. Ensure that the contacts are firm and that the grips cannot be touched enters. Test of the alternator/the load circuit of the vehicle: Connect the tester to the battery installed in the vehicle (cf installation of the tester) and make turn the engine of the vehicle to high mode. Read the indication provided by the tester without touching with switch ON/OFF. If the load circuit of the vehicle functions correctly, the needle should be on "OK". Test of the battery: Connect the tester to the battery (cf installation of the tester) and push button ON/OFF to ON at least 5 seconds. Read the meter after this 10 seconds period. T EST (after 10 secondes) Ok (green zone) feeble or bad (orange/red), needle stable feeble or bad (orange/red), needle falling Analysis T he capacity of the battery is good. It can be or not reloaded T he capacity of the battery is insufficient. It could be or partially discharged. T he battery could be defective. For a quick check, release load switch ON/OFF, and note volt meter reaction. If the volatge recovers to its full potential after only a few seconds, the battery is propablement defective. If the voltage recovers slowly, the battery is perhaps only discharged. If the battery seems under bad conditions, let it to rest a few minutes and then check the no-load voltage (without touching with switch ON/OFF) in order to measure the rate of load of the battery. The battery is perhaps considered as charged if it exceeds 75% (cf table below). If the test of the battery (above) is a failure in spite of 75% of load, then it must be replaced. If the voltage is lower than 75% the battery must be charged and to remake the test of the battery (above). The battery must be changed if the test fails again. TABLE for a battery 12 V (to divide by 2 for a battery 6V): NO-LOAD VOLTAGE 11,7 V or less 12 12,2 12,4 % OF CHARGE 0% 25% 50% 75% Test of the capacities of starting (if the battery is in good condition and the engine at a normal temperature): This test identifies a problem of insufficiency of tension in the moment of starting = difficult starting and reduction of lift time of the battery. Connect the tester to the battery and disconnect the ignition system (so that the vehicle does not start. Launch the engine and at the same time measure the tension. If the tension is lower or equal 9V, there is an insufficiency of tension (attention the battery is perhaps under dimensioned compared to the vehicle).
