This is an opportunity for us to link
with migrants there and have first
hand experience with problems pertaining to spending cuts, housing
needs, education, family life , and
unemployment
We offer our congratulations to the
members of the Congolese community, especially the non English
speaking ones
who have been
granted the right to settle in the UK
on this year of golden celebration of
independence of the Democratic
Republic of Congo . However as we
said a while ago there is nothing to
celebrate as humans rights abuse
are common in a Country which is
labeled the world capital of rape.,
according to the United Nations report.E-mail is [email protected]

For the coming year SOCOA has planned a series of workshops and activities with the
specific focus on Health. Our current research has indicated the need for the community to
be i) aware of HIV/AIDS, the treatment available, and the care and diet for those affected,
and lessening and negating the stigma attached to sufferers by family and community
members.
ii) aware of the importance of healthy diets for avoiding illnesses such as hypertension
and diabetes, and the careful and wise spending on foodstuffs with a restricted budget.
Iii) introducing Committee members and volunteers to aspects of Management Skills in
order to improve the efficiency of their organisations. We target new 15 persons, drawn
from Solidarity &Community Action , Leyton Visitation organisation and Redbridge French
Speaking Women’s Association empower them to running their organisations.
