Describe your professional path:
Antonio started working in sourcing at the beginning of his career, even before he graduated in
Industrial Engineering. From the growing automotive business, passing through the FCMG world and
now in the Consulting industry, Antonio has 10 years’ of professional experience.
Antonio is currently working for an international consultancy company but based at Citi Group where
he leads the strategic sourcing projects for Advertising & Marketing. He is in charge of finding
opportunities, understanding the baseline and details of the expense, developing the strategy along
with the internal stakeholders and ultimately running the RFx process (sometimes including eauctions) to allocate the business to the most competitive candidates and reflect Terms, Conditions,
deliverables and SLAs in a long term contract.
Passions:
One of Antonio's favourite hobbies is photography. He takes his camera with him everywhere.
Antonio also enjoys making new friends; he considers himself to be very open-minded and believes
that friends can help you solve any small or big problem you are facing and are a key element of
success.
Last but not least Antonio likes music because every big event in his life is filled with music. “I think I
can relate every member of my family and friends to a specific song and keep it in my subconscious.”
Each time he hears a song, it reminds him of the people who have been important to him.
Your most memorable experience at Audencia:
For Antonio, Audencia was a once-in-a-lifetime experience from the very first time he entered the
school. “But if I have to mention just one I would say the WEI trip [Dune du Pilat, Arcachon Bay,
paintball, camping, vineyard, etc], which helped me to connect with so many other students of
different programs and know their dreams, understand their passions and even collaborate with
them.” Antonio is proud of his network which reaches to all four corners of the world.
Advice to students looking to work in your field:
To work in sourcing, people need to develop skills that are appreciated by the industry – not only
presentation, leadership and negotiation but also awareness of the impact your work can have on the
financials of the whole company or even in the sales of a specific product or service. Antonio’s advice
is to students is to look opportunities within AAA companies, which can provide stronger processes,
enhance learning curve and offer solid sourcing methodologies. “I would strongly suggest to students
to try and experience different industries, as I have been doing, and commodities as well and not to
stay too long where there are no new challenges or knowledge to acquire.” He believes that this gives
you the confidence of knowing how to purchase and compare anything in this world even without
knowing the specific technical details.
Advice to students looking to work in Mexico:
When looking for a job in almost any country, the first and most important skill to work in Mexico is
the language. Mexico is one of the biggest growing markets and provides many opportunities due to
the stable and still growing economy. Mexicans are very friendly and always ready to welcome
newcomers who like the fast rhythm of a hard-working country “You wouldn’t regret any second of
coming to Mexico because it would be a changing-life adventure.”
How do you stay in touch with your friends at Audencia:
“I think nowadays there is no excuse not to stay in touch with someone, wherever they are in the
world.” Antonio uses a wide variety of tools, devices and apps to keep in touch with his former
classmates. After living together on a daily basis before going their separate ways, apart from Facebook
groups and emails, Antonio believe that nothing is better than a list of cell phone numbers. “I find that
all my classmates are very easy to reach out to, and we spend a lot of time remembering the great
times we had at Audencia.”
