Mit der Fertigstellung des von David Childs entworfenen One
World Trade Centers in 2014 ziert ein weiterer bedeutender
Wolkenkratzer die Skyline von Manhattan. Das Gebäude entsteht
anstelle der bei den Terroranschlägen vom 11. 09. 2001 zerstörten
Twin Towers des World Trade Centers. Es ist Hauptgebäude des
neuen Gebäudekomplexes auf dem Ground Zero, welcher fünf
Türme sowie eine Gedenkstätte für die Opfer des 11. Septembers
umfasst. Mit einer Höhe von 541,3 Meter (1776 Fuß) ist der Wolkenkratzer bei seiner Fertigstellung das höchste Gebäude der USA
und das dritthöchste der Welt. Die amerikanische Höhenangabe
1776 Fuß symbolisiert das Jahr der Unabhängigkeitserklärung der
Vereinigten Staaten, weshalb der Turm auch Freedom Tower genannt wird. Die 104 Etagen werden überwiegend als Bürogebäude genutzt, die Aussichtsplattformen in den oberen Stockwerken
bieten in einer Höhe von 406 Meter einen tollen Panoramablick
über New York. Mit geschätzten 3,1 Mrd. Baukosten ist das One
World Trade Center das bislang teuerste Bürogebäude der Welt.
Allein bis zur 21. Etage wurde bereits mehr Stahl eingesetzt als
für die Fertigstellung des gesamten Eiffelturms notwendig war.

achevé en 2014, un nouveau gratte-ciel remarquable ornera
l‘horizon de Manhattan. Ce nouvel édifice est construit à
l‘emplacement même où se trouvaient les deux tours jumelles
du World Trade Center, détruites lors des attentats du 11.09.2001.
Il constitue le bâtiment principal du nouveau complexe architectural à Ground Zero, qui comprend cinq tours, ainsi qu‘un mémorial en souvenir des victimes de ce 11 septembre. Avec ses 541,3 m
(1776 pieds), ce gratte-ciel sera le plus haut des États-Unis et la
troisième plus haute tour du monde. Sa hauteur de 1776 pieds,
en unité de mesure américaine, symbolise la date de la déclaration d‘Indépendance des États-Unis ; d‘où son surnom de „tour de
la Liberté“. Les 104 étages seront principalement occupés par des
bureaux. La terrasse panoramique, aux étages supérieurs, offrira
une vue imprenable sur New York, d‘une hauteur de 406 m.
Le coût des travaux est estimé à 3,1 milliards de dollars, ce qui
fait du One World Trade Center la tour d‘affaires la plus chère du
monde. Les 28 premiers étages, à eux seuls, ont nécessité plus
d‘acier que la totalité de la tour Eiffel.

la silueta de Manhattan. El edificio se alza en lugar de las Torres
Gemelas del World Trade Center, que fueron destruidas en el
ataque terrorista del 11 de septiembre de 2001. Es la construcción
principal del nuevo complejo de edificios de la Zona Cero, que
comprende cinco torres y un monumento en memoria a las
víctimas del 11-S. Con una altura de 541,3 metros (1776 pies), este
rascacielos es el edificio más alto de los EE. UU. y el tercero del
mundo. La altura en la medida americana de 1776 pies simboliza
el año de la Declaración de Independencia de los Estados Unidos,
por lo que la torre también recibe el nombre de Freedom Tower

With the completion of One World Trade Center in 2014,
(designed by David Childs) another major skyscraper will grace
the skyline of Manhattan. The building is being created in
memoriam of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 that
destroyed the twin towers of the World Trade Center. It is the
main building of the new complex on ground zero, which includes five towers and a memorial to the victims of 9 / 11. With
a height of 541.3 meters (1776 ft) it will be the tallest building in
the United States and the third highest in the world once it is
completed. The height of 1776 feet symbolizes the year the Declaration of Independence was signed, which is why the Tower is

The steel used to the 21st floor alone was more steel than was
used for the completion of the Eiffel Tower 65 meters or 213 feet.

David Childs, dal 2014 un ulteriore imponente grattacielo si
staglierà nell’orizzonte di Manhattan caricandolo di fascino.
L’edificio sorge sul sito delle precedenti Torri Gemelle del World
Trade Center distrutte negli attentati terroristici dell’11/09/2001.
Si tratta del fabbricato principale del nuovo complesso costruito
su Ground Zero che comprende cinque torri e un monumento
commemorativo dedicato alle vittime dell’11 settembre. Con i
suoi 541,3 metri (1776 piedi), il grattacielo è il più alto degli Stati
Uniti d’America e il terzo più alto del mondo. L’unità di misura
americana di 1776 piedi corrisponde alla data di dichiarazione
dell’indipendenza degli Stati Uniti, ecco perché alla torre viene
anche dato il nome di Freedom Tower (Torre della Libertà). I suoi
104 piani sono destinati prevalentemente ad uso ufficio e le
piattaforme panoramiche situate ai piani superiori, a un’altezza
di 406 metri, offrono una magnifica vista sulla città di New York.
La spesa stimata per la realizzazione del One World Trade Center
è di 3,1 miliardi di €: a oggi, è l’edificio più caro al mondo. Solo
per arrivare fino al 21° piano, è già stato utilizzato più acciaio di
quello impiegato nella realizzazione dell’intera Torre Eiffel.

World Trade Center in 2014 siert een belangrijke wolkenkrabber
weer de skyline van Manhattan. Het gebouw ontstaat op de
plaats van de bij de terroristische aanslagen van 11.09.2001 verwoeste Twin Towers van het World Trade Center. Het is het hoofdgebouw van het nieuwe gebouwencomplex op Ground Zero, dat
bestaat uit vijf torens evenals een gedenkplaats voor de slachtoffers van 11 september. Met een hoogte van 5413 meter (1776 voet)
zal de wolkenkrabber bij zijn voltooiing het hoogste gebouw van
de VS zijn en het op twee na hoogste ter wereld. De Amerikaanse
hoogte van 1776 voet symboliseert het jaar van de onafhankelijkheidsverklaring van de Verenigde Staten, daarom wordt de
toren ook wel Freedom Tower genoemd. De 104 etages worden
overwegend als kantoorgebouw gebruikt, de uitzichtplatformen
op de bovenste etages bieden op een hoogte van 406 meter een
adembenemend uitzicht over New York. Met geschatte bouwkosten van € 3,1 mld. is het One World Trade Center het tot nu toe
duurste kantoorgebouw ter wereld. Alleen al tot de 21e etage
werd meer staal gebruikt dan voor de hele Eiffeltoren
nodig was.
