ECOLOGICAL CHARTER [ORGANISATION] The following ecological charter has been developed by [ORGANISATION] as part of its ongoing commitment to the environment, together with its partner organisations within the Imagine 2020 – Arts and Climate Change network. For the eleven arts organisations making up the IMAGINE 2020 – Arts and Climate Change network, 2020 is a realistic date to work towards for making changes necessary to stabilise the climate and secure a sustainable future. In addition to creative artistic and learning projects, all network members will continue to take concrete actions to reduce the environmental impact of the work they do and to make their own organisations environmentally sustainable. For more information on the Imagine 2020 network visit www.imagine2020.eu. We would like everybody who is working with us to adhere this charter. It should become part of each contract [ORGANISATION] signs with its employees, artists, and companies presented by Artsadmin. It is about small, simple, but efficient things you can do individually and that will make a big difference if adopted by everyone. This charter will be updated on a regular basis, and your ideas are welcome. Please help us to make [ORGANISATION] a responsible organisation and think about your actions outside the office in the same way. What we’ve done so far or plan to do within the year: Examples: All light bulbs have been changed to low-energy consumption light-bulbs. We have installed renewable power generation (windwill, solar etc). We have reduced space and water heating to minimum levels. We’re checking our weekly energy use. We have insulated office/theatre space. We have installed lighting sensors in common hallways (so lights only come on when people walk through them) We’ve installed individual room heating controls (especially for rehearsal spaces used by dancers) We’ve switched to a green electricity supplier (from renewable, non-nuclear sources) What I will try to do: ! ! ! ! ! ! ! When I am the last one to leave a space I switch the lights off. When I leave my desk, I switch the computer to “sleep”. When I leave my desk for a longer period of time, during lunch breaks or meetings, I switch the computer off. I unplug any electronic devices and chargers (phone, I-pod etc.) when not in use. At the end of the day, I switch off all other electronic devices not in use overnight (fax, printer, etc.). I don’t always use the internet – I consult a phone books; I use my “A to Z” to plan my trip somewhere; I open the window to check the temperature, not an on-line weather service… I wear appropriate clothing to limit the need for heating and cooling the office space. I use the recycling bins for the appropriate waste. ! I use rechargeable batteries. ! I consider re-using or repairing or giving an item to someone who will use it before throwing it away. ! I flatten any packaging before throwing it away to reduce the volume (less trucks will be needed to drive the waste to its final destination). ! I buy products with as little packaging as possible, I try to avoid plastic bags when shopping, I don’t accept junk mail, I get my bills on-line, I drink water from the tap and avoid buying water bottles … D) PAPER If you have this information In 2010, [ORGANISATION] spent xxxx on paper OR used xxx kilos of paper.
