What:
Create a short video (2-5 min.) to tell us about your positive experiences in
this pathway!
Who:
Students who are in year 2 or 3 of the Prework Training (PWT) program or
are in the Training for a Semiskilled Trade (TST) program
Prizes:
1st Prize: $200 gift card for Future Shop
2 n d Prize: $100 gift card for Future Shop
3rd Prize: $50 gift card for Future Shop
Teacher Prizes: The three teachers whose class(es) submit the most video
entries will each receive a $50 gift card for Amazon.
When:
Deadline for video entries: May 8, 2015
Video: A two-to five-minute video, telling us why you enjoy being
part of the WOTP pathway and about the positive experiences that
you have had in your particular program (PWT or TST).
Your video should address these questions:
1.
What do you enjoy most about the WOTP?
2.
What has been your best work placement experience?
3.
What skills or experiences has the WOTP given you that will
help you get a job?
4.
What would you tell students who were unsure about whether
the WOTP is right for them?
Video Contest:


WOTP students can participate in this contest as a class or individually.
Students/classes are encouraged to be creative with this project; the aim is to create a
video that highlights positive aspects and experiences in the WOTP.

Videos can be interview style, casual conversation, action shots of community and/or
volunteer work, and examples of entrepreneurial activities within the school or in the
community--anything that addresses the video contest questions.
Most schools require students to have a consent form signed that gives permission for
students to appear in school-related photos and/or videos. Signed consent will be required
for students to participate in this video contest. Please ensure that this has been done.
These forms do not need to be submitted; however, they must be made available upon
request.
An Information Sheet (see Appendix A) will need to be completed and submitted with
the video entry.
Each participant must also sign and submit a Release Form (see Appendix B (teachers)
and C (students)) because parts of or the entire video entry may be used for educational
and/or promotional purposes by LEARN and/or DEEN.



Completed Videos:

Save your video entry. We recommend that you use a standard format DVD or QuickTime
(.MOV or h.264) format files. Windows Media and Flash video (.flv) files should be avoided.
Keep in mind that these videos need to easily be opened and uploaded to a website.
 Submit your video entry to your school board’s WOTP Consultant.
 Deadline for submitting your video entry is FRIDAY, MAY 8, 2015.
 Each entry should be submitted in a sealed envelope and should include:
1. DVD or USB memory stick (Media will not be returned),
2. Completed Information Sheet (Appendix A),
3. Signed Release Forms for each participant in each video. In the case of minors, a parent
or guardian must also sign the Release Form.(Teachers: see Appendix B, Students: see
Appendix C)
