CHATEAU LOUIS 2010
2010 Chateau Louis
A Bordeaux Blend Dry Red Table wine from St Emilion, Bordeaux, France,

Chateau Louis: The best wine yet I have tasted from this property is the normal cuvee, the
2010 Louis. Opaque purple, this blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon came
from staggeringly low yields of 15 hectoliters per hectare. Like the 100% Merlot cuvee, the
Reserve, it is 14.6% natural alcohol, although that is not detectable at all on the palate or
nose. Sweet mulberry, black cherry and cassis fruit intermixed with hints of incense, toast
and white chocolate are all present in this terrific wine, which is the finest Chateau Louis
made to date. This estate, which used to be called Rol de Fombrauge, was purchased in
2006 by Thierry de la Brosse, the proprietor of the famed Paris bistro, L’Ami Louis. Sadly,
he passed away prematurely at a young age last year. I have reviewed these wines
together even though the Reserve de Louis comes from a separate, microscopic section of
the Chateau Louis vineyards.
2010 La Reserve de Louis
A Bordeaux Blend Dry Red Table wine from St Emilion, Bordeaux, France,

2010 La Reserve de Louis: Cropped at a minuscule 20 hectoliters per hectare, this 100%
Merlot cuvee from clay and limestone soils achieved 14.6% natural alcohol. The consulting
oenologist here, Stephane Derenoncourt, has produced an opaque purple-colored wine with
huge extract and tannins in a full-bodied style, with loads of minerality, blue and black fruits,
and hints of espresso and white chocolate. An enormously endowed wine, it will need a good
8-10 years of cellaring and should last 20-25 years. I have reviewed these wines together
even though the Reserve de Louis comes from a separate, microscopic section of the
Chateau Louis vineyards.

TASTING NOTES
This is a wine for the restaurant in Paris of Amis Louis. What a beautiful layer of fruit and ultrafine tannins. It’s full with bright fruit and tannins. Love it. 90 percent Merlot and 10 percent
Cabernet Franc.$$

Ch Louis 2010 St-Émilion 15 Drink 2016-2023
Very rich and almost overripe on the nose and then super tart on the palate. Not gracious!
LOUIS St-Emilion Grand Cru
15,75 - 16
Ce cru s'appelait précédemment ROL DE FOMBRAUGE. Il existe depuis le millésime 2006. Superficie
5,30 ha.
Ch. Louis Saint-Emilion 15
Robe sombre. Nez très intense, camphre et boisé. Bouche souple et rond, de la chair.
GRANDE REUSSITE – CHATEAU LOUIS
Du coffre. Ce vin puissant et très riche offre beaucoup de matière et d’intensité tannique en
finale.
