A journey to Gwan Shan
Un car se trouve bloqué en plein orage par la chute d’un rocher sur la
route. En attendant les secours, les passages se rendent au village le
plus proche. Certains d’entre eux s’invitent chez une veuve qui rêve de
partir en ville, d’autres sont accueillis chez un vieux paysan et ses
petits-enfants. Une jeune receveuse tente de trouver de l’aide pour
dégager la route, un vieux couple se dispute, une jeune femme
séduisante veut changer de vie, un vieux médecin alcoolique sauve
une vie, un voleur en fuite, un escroc qui trompe la veuve, un jeune
amoureux jaloux, un photographe séduisant…tous ces personnages se
révèlent et évoluent au fil du film pour conclure sur l’importance de
l’union de tous pour la construction du pays.
Un film en métaphore du pays, coproduit avec Hongkong.
In the middle of a storm, a bus is blocked by a rock which fell on the
road. While waiting for rescue, the passengers go to the nearest
village. Some invite themselves at a widow’s who dreams to go to the
city, and others are welcomed by an old peasant and his grandchildren. A young woman conductor tries to find help to clear the
road, an old couple quarrels, a young attractive woman wants to
change life, an old alcoholic doctor saves a life, a thief who escapes,
a crook who cheats the widow, a young man in love feeling jealous,
a handsome photographer… all these characters emerge and evolve
during the film which draws the conclusion that the union of all is
important for the construction of the country.
This film with metaphoric patriotism is a co production with Hong
Kong.

Wen Yi
Wen Yi est né en 1920 en
Chine et fait ses études à
Shanghai. Il vient du monde
de la littérature et a d’abord
travaillé comme éditeur dans
un journal de Shanghai avant
de devenir scénariste pour la
CMPC à Taiwan. Il réalise
son premier film en 1953 et
travaille entre Taiwan et
Hongkong. Il réalise une
soixantaine de films dont
notamment plusieurs films
avec Grace Chang : Mambo
Girl, Air Hostess (premier
film en couleur de la Cathay).
Il meurt en 1978.
