The Synergy Group 2000 et l'achat de pertes fiscales via le "Independant Business
Consultant Association" (IBCA) : tel que prévu, le dossier est en train de tourner au
vinaigre…
Lors du cours de l'an dernier (Mise à jour en fiscalité-2007, pages G-54 et G-55), nous vous avions dit
ceci relativement à cette "patente" :
"Nous avons commencé à entendre parler d'un abri fiscal très nébuleux dont la promotion est faite
par "The Synergy Group" de Toronto. Nous avons notamment vu un cas où moyennant un
investissement de 100 000 $, le particulier se voyait "accorder" 486 000 $ en déductions fiscales.
Nous ne pouvons même pas vous dire dans quel domaine cet abri fiscal opère et tout ce que les
comptables de l'investisseur reçoivent est un formulaire T2124 (un état des résultats des activités
d'une entreprise) qui est censé représenter la participation de l'associé dans une entreprise intitulée
"Independant Business Consultant Association" (IBCA). L'ARC a commencé son enquête et
semble-t-il que Revenu Québec est aussi dans le portrait. Or, d'après vous, est-ce une bonne idée
de mettre de l'argent dans une telle "patente"? À notre avis, poser la question, c'est y répondre.
Ça ne sent vraiment pas bon…"
Or, il semble que nous n'avions vraiment pas tort…! Plusieurs "investisseurs" se sont vus refuser leurs
déductions (sans grande surprise de notre part) et n'ont jamais obtenu leurs remboursements d'impôt
promis par les promoteurs. D'autres qui les avaient reçus se sont faits recotiser par les autorités fiscales
pour les années 2004 et suivantes. Il semblerait qu'environ 4 000 particuliers ont embarqué dans cette
"patente", dont plusieurs proviennent de l'Ouest canadien.
Voici d'ailleurs quelques commentaires en anglais tirés d'un forum de discussions sur Internet entre des
investisseurs frustrés par leur mésaventure dans cette affaire :

Hemiman 4321 : I'm going to explain to my kids that we have to sell our home because of this huge
debt that I have with the government. They're going to ask "how did it happen"?
Lostmoney : I have had to sell my truck and re-mortgage my house seeing as how all my life
savings are gone and I now owe the government $ 40 000 for the supposed "tax strategy".
Tears2myeyes : just wondering what legal rights one my have against synergy or my scumbag
accountant who sucked me into this.
Bankersdream : Do you have any idea what you have done to people and their lives… do you
care… my brother has been suicidal… doesn't sleep or eat… after he lost his investments, income
tax refund held up and wanting the previous year back… of which $ 50 000. …was borrowed money
from me… or is your only concern on here… the fact that YOUR company's is being questioned for
the devastating position you have put him in.

Singhrh : I'm one of people that invested in 2005 and got my money as stated. Based on this I
invested even more in 2006. Again I got my money. Then I got a reassessment of my 2005 taxes. I
wish I seen this forum earlier as I don't think I would have invested in 2006. I don't have a
reassessment on my 2006 taxes but it is just a matter of time I think.
Outhere123 : First, as I noted on Jan 22 – my 2006 return assessed 9-10 months after filed and the
T-2124 was not included in the assessment. I was simply advised to pay a huge tax bill. There was
no mention of the T-2124 at all. I filed an objection, re-submitted the T-2124 AND PAID MY
BALANCE OWING to stop the interest from building.

Here is what I have done (1) I have, as noted, filed the objections and paid my balance. (2) I have
filed a complaint with the RCMP – Integrated Market Enforcement Team citing that I am a potential
personal victim of fraudulent National business activity by both Synergy2000 and IBC. (3) I have cut
off my relationship with anyone who tried to sell me Synergy or Borealis (which luckily I did not get
involved with, despite persistent attempts to engage my $100k+) as I have named EVERYONE who
I had contact with in my complaint. (4) Finally, I have accepted full responsibility for my ridiculous
participation in Synergy. I did not go into this to evade taxes, but I did want to reduce my tax burden
legally… obviously, not a smart move. I got into this on my own and I will get out of it on my own
albeit thousands of dollars in the hole. But, my goal is to make sure that if this is found to be illegal,
that I bring EVERYONE at IBC and Synergy down."
Notes du CQFF :
1) D'autres organisations (en plus de Synergy Group) ont fait la vente et la promotion de cette merde
qui ne fonctionne pas.
2) Sur Internet, nous avons même pu avoir accès à un moment donné en 2008 à la présentation
"Powerpoint" que les promoteurs utilisaient dans leurs présentations à de futurs investisseurs …
Ouf! Ça sentait l'amateurisme…
