Dee Zee Running Board Installation Instructions
Congratulations on your purchase of a quality Dee Zee product. Dee Zee is
recognized as having the highest quality running boards and accessories on
the market today. We have earned this reputation by offering our customers
a product they can be proud to place on their vehicles. Dee Zee meets all
the criteria of manufacturing a custom-fit product which guarantees it to
be the easiest product to install.
Note: Please take time to read all of the instructions before beginning this installation.
Warning! Please check for wiring or other obstructions before drilling any holes into
the vehicle. If it is necessary to drill any holes into the vehicle, Dee Zee recommends
putting a sealant or rust inhibitor around all holes drilled into the body of the vehicle.
Warning! It is the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner to check for tire clearance.
Warning! It is unlawful and dangerous to ride on running boards or side box boards
while the vehicle is in motion.
Cleaning Instructions: To maintain the bright finish of your Dee Zee running boards,
clean with a mild detergent. For our stainless steel products and accessories, the
application of a high grade automotive type wax is recommended.

Place four 1/4 x 3/4” slotted hex head bolts (I) into the channel in the bottom of guardian running board
(A) as shown below.

Slide a rear plastic trim piece (C) and front plastic trim piece (D) into the channels in guardian running
board (A) as shown below.

If you are installing mudflaps on your guardian running board, then follow the steps shown below. If installing endcaps
on your guardian running board (A), then proceed to the next page.

Mudflap Installation:
Slide the guardian endcap (G) onto the end of guardian running board (A) and then
place guardian mudflap (F) onto the guardian endcap (G). Secure them to the channels
in guardian running board(A) using 1/4 x 1 ½” sheet metal screws (M). Tighten into
place using a 3/8” wrench / or socket.

Endcap Installation:
Slide guardian endcaps (G) onto guardian running board (A) and attach using 1/4 x 1“ sheet
metal screws (L). Tighten the 1/4 x 1“ sheet metal screws (L) into place using a 3/8“ wrench /
socket. Now slide 1/4” U-Clips (N) onto guardian endcap inserts (E) as shown below.
Glissez les endcaps de gardien (g) sur le conseil courant de gardien (a) et les attachez à l'aide
des vis en métal de feuille de 1/4 x de 1"(l). Serrez les vis en métal de feuille de 1/4 x de 1"

Slide guardian endcap inserts (E) onto guardian endcaps (G) and attach using #10 x 5/8”
phillips head screws (O) and 1/4 x 1” sheet metal screws (L). Tighten the #10 x 5/8” phillips
head screws (0) using a phillips head screwdriver and the 1/4 x 1” sheet metal screws (L)
using a 3/8” wrench /or socket.

Place the bulb-seal gasket (B) onto the backlip of the guardian running board (A) and press it firmly into place. Cut the
bulb-seal gasket (B) so that it is flush with the ends of guardian running board (A).

Factory Running Board
Locate the 2 existing
mounting bolts
Remove the 2 existing
bolts per bracket on the
existing factory board.
Do not discard the bolts.

Remove existing bolt
at front of factory
board.
Replace existing bolt
at front of vehicle.
For reference, bracket
shown with fasteners
removed.

Place 1/4” flat spacer (H)
between vehicle and
bracket, insert existing bolt
through bracket and spacer.
Finger-tighten bolts.
Place the Running Board
up to the body mount
brackets.
Align the (4) 1/4” x3/4” slotted
hex head bolts(I) with the
slots in the body mount
brackets.

Secure into place using
1/4” flat washer (J) and
hex nuts (K).
Hand-tighten.
Make any final adjustments
to the alignment of the
running board on the vehicle.
Tighten all bolts.

Using the pictures below as a guide, first drill three 3/16” holes
through the mudflap on the running board and the sheet metal
in the wheel well opening of the vehicle. Secure the mudlfap to
the sheetmetal of the wheel well opening using 1/4 x 1" sheet
metal screws (L) as shown in Step 10 of this instruction. Tighten
until snug using a 3/8” wrench / or socket.
