“Responding to
an increasing number of
natural disasters and home
fires (22 in Fond du Lac County
over the past year), the American
Red Cross must rely more than ever
on our donors. The funds that come
to us from Walleye Weekend play a
substantial role in allowing us to help the
community prepare for, respond to and
recover from disaster. Thank you for
the opportunity to work the wristband
booths over the years.”
“We met and talked with
people, mostly moms and dads,
who admitted they hadn’t been
inside the library for years and years,”
said Fond du Lac Public Library Director
Jon Mark Bolthouse. “Not only did Walleye
Weekend give us access to people we don’t
normally see, but it allowed us to talk with them
face-to-face and let them know how welcome
they are. I know Walleye Weekend helped us
break down some inhibitions. It definitely let
the public see us in a new light. We were
regular folks having fun and – on the side –
talking about reading.”
