french red—burgundy and beaujolais
french red—bordeaux
subtlety, & complexity, pinot noir is the noblest of grapes and
burgundy is where it’s greatest expression is realized. not to
discount its cousin gamay noir of beaujolais which is similar
and vastly underrated.
a region seeing a resurgence in our country of late, often
misunderstood; bordeaux produces more wine than anywhere else as well as the most expensive wines in the world.
somewhere in between that dichotomy are reasonably
priced, beautiful wines that define cabernet and merlot.

the vintage charts and invest in a corkscrew. The
best way to learn about wine is the drinking. “

spanish red
french red— northern rhone
the northern rhone is to syrah what burgundy is to pinot noir.
unlike like the big fruit forward syrahs of the new world these
powerful wines display fruit but match it with earthy tones
and acidity .
our tastes in wine here lean heavily towards france, yet
there is something about spain that tantalizes. power,
finesse and an area that can tame and utilize american oak to its advantage.

the willamette valley understands pinot noir like burgundy,
they are similar in spirit and differ only in terroir. but there are
also other areas like the rogue and umpqua valley which are
achieving great success with other varietals.
the youngest major wine producing state in the country; our
state is still in winemaking infancy, quickly finding it’s way,
below is some of the best. the new interest in grenache is
especially exciting.
