Bienvenue à Eze
Eze, ce mot de trois lettres au son
mélodieux, séduit tout autant qu’il
intrigue.
après une brève ascension chargée
d’histoire dans les ruelles sinueuses,
empruntées maintes fois au cours des
derniers siècles, c’est bien au rêve que
nous convie cette cité médiévale perchée
entre Nice et monaco.
a l’intérieur de l’enceinte médiévale, Eze,
élue des princes et des écrivains, a su
conserver tout le charme et le
romantisme des villages du sud de la
France.
Du sommet du jardin aménagé dans les
ruines du château, à 429 m., le panorama
est inoubliable et unique sur la Côte
d’azur. Les plantes, des cactées en
majorité, se déploient en vertes cascades
jusqu'à la méditerranée.
De nombreux sentiers épousant la nature
relient les trois niveaux de la commune.
Le plus connu, le chemin de Nietzsche,
qui a inspiré le philosophe pour l’écriture
de son célèbre ouvrage « ainsi parlait
Zarathoustra », vous emmène du village
au Bord de mer. Par là, l’odeur de la terre
chaude et des végétaux gorgés de soleil
s’efface devant le clapotis des vagues.

Welcome to Eze
Eze, this three letters word seduces just as much as
it intrigues.
after a brief ascent in the winding alleys full of
History, taken many times over the past centuries,
this medieval City perched between Nice and
monaco invites you to dream.
Within the medieval walls, Eze, chosen by Princes
and writers, has kept all the charm and the
romanticism of South of France’s villages.
From the top of the garden, built in the ruins of the
castle, at 1 407 ft, the view is unforgettable and
unique on the French riviera. The plants, mostly
cactuses, are falling in green waterfalls towards the
mediterranean Sea.
many trails scattered in nature are connecting the
three levels of the town.
The most famous, the path of Nietzsche which
inspired the philosopher to write his famous novel
“Thus spoke Zarathustra”, takes you from the
middle Corniche to the lower Corniche. Then, the
smell of warm earth and plants full of sun
disappears, and the sea fragrance appears.

La Grande Corniche
Découvrez l'espace nature de la
Grande Corniche culminant à 675 m.,
surplombant la méditerranée et offrant
des panoramas stupéfiants de beauté sur
toute la Côte d'azur.
Construite sur ordre de Napoléon ier, elle
emprunte le tracé de l’ancienne voie
romaine la via Julia, jusqu’à La Turbie.
Panorama spectaculaire sur la côte, de l’italie
jusqu’à Saint-Tropez.
Parc forestier de la Grande Corniche : a 500 / 600 m., il
s’étend sur environ 610 ha, du mont Vinaigrier au
mont Bataille, en passant par le mont Leuze, le
Plateau de la Justice, la revère et la Côme de la Forna.
a l’ouest, le Plateau de la Justice (accès près de l’hôtel
Hermitage). Le gibet des seigneurs d’Eze s’y trouvait
autrefois. aujourd’hui un sentier sportif pour
randonneurs (1400 m.), des aires de jeux et de piquenique.
au centre, le mont Bastide, site archéologique
rappelant les origines celto ligures des premiers
Ezasques. Esplanade de l’oppidum à proximité.
a l’est, le Plateau de la revère. a découvrir la table
d’orientation, le sentier et la maison de la Nature.

The upper Corniche
Discover the natural space of the upper Corniche at
2 224 ft, overhanging the mediterranean Sea, with a
magnificent view on the French riviera.
This road going to La Turbie presents you spectacular
views of the coast from italy to St-Tropez. Built on
the orders of Napoleon, it follows the tracks of the
roman « Julia » road.
The upper Corniche Park spreads over 1 507 acres
including the Plateau of Justice and revere.
To the west: the Plateau of Justice, where the gallows
of the lords of Eze used to be. There are now hikers
pathways, an adventure playground with tables and
benches.
at the centre: the mont Bastide, an archaeological
site dating from the celto-ligurian period leaves the
trace of first inhabitants. Nearby is the oppidum.
To the east: “la revere” plateau. The Col d’Eze, in the
direction of the local forest park is worth visiting, as
well as the House of Nature.

Le Village :
Eze et sa cité médiévale vous souhaitent la
bienvenue.
Entre mer et montagne, parcourez les ruelles du
village chargées d’histoire.
a ne pas manquer :
La Poterne : Double porte fortifiée datée du 14e
siècle. unique accès au village.
L’église paroissiale : Bâtie au 18e siècle. une
façade classique et un intérieur baroque à nef
unique.
Le cimetière : Francis Blanche, le célèbre
humoriste et comédien, y repose.
La Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs : Seul
monument intact du moyen-age (14e siècle) où
se réunissait la Confrérie des Pénitents Blancs,
ordre de laïcs chargés d’aider les malheureux et
les lépreux.
La Place du Planet et sa fontaine italienne de
1930.
La maison des riquier : Propriété des Seigneurs
d’Eze (12e - 15e siècles), les riquier, puissante
famille de Nice.

Between sea and mountain, walk through streets full of

Worth visiting:
The Poterne: a double fortified gateway dating from the
14th Century. it is the only access to the old village.
The Church: built in the 18th Century. a classical and
baroque interior with an unique nave.
The Cemetery: Francis Blanche, the grave of the famous
French actor.
White Penitent’s Chapel: during the 14th Century, it was
the meeting place of the laymen White Penitents
brotherhood, who took care of the lepers and the poor.
The planet square: with its italian style fountain built in
1930.
The riquier mansion: this was the residence of the Lords
of Eze during the 12th and 15th Centuries.
Le Jardin Exotique d’Eze
Prix spécial régional pour le Jardin Exotique 2014
Le Jardin Exotique d’Eze, aménagé dans les
ruines d’une forteresse médiévale, abrite une
collection botanique dédiée aux plantes succulentes
originaires des divers continents et notamment
d’amérique centrale, pour une découverte des lois
de la nature. Les plantes succulentes emmagasinent
le suc pour résister à la sécheresse. on les rencontre
dans les endroits les plus arides de la planète, dans
les lieux soumis à de longues périodes sans
précipitation : cactus, aloès, agaves et autres plantes
surprenantes comme la plante dragée, Aeonium
arboreum aux rosettes noires.
un parcours thématique permet de se familiariser
avec ces plantes, de les reconnaître et de découvrir
l’histoire et les légendes des lieux.
Le Jardin Exotique est aussi le lieu privilégié pour
s’imprégner de l’atmosphère de la Côte d’azur. Les
sculptures de Jean-Philippe richard sont disposées
le long des sentiers. Depuis le sommet à 429 m.
d’altitude on domine un panorama exceptionnel sur
la méditerranée, jusqu’à Saint-Tropez. Par temps
clair, il est possible d’apercevoir la Corse.
Sur la partie nord, un jardin méditerranéen est
aménagé, avec ses grottes et sa cascade, ses
végétaux de la garrigue provençale, agrémenté
d’espaces de détente et de méditation ainsi que de
fontaines pour se rafraîchir et se désaltérer.

The exotic garden of Eze
The Exotic Garden of Eze is located high above the sea
at the top of the medieval ruins of Eze Village. a wide
variety of succulent plants from various continents and
Central america are displayed. Such plants such as
cacti, aloes and agaves are able to store water in their
leaves and stems to combat the dry conditions of their
habitat. These plants are from the most arid places on
the earth.
The tour through the garden is planned to reveal
its history and legends.
Sculptures of Jean-Philippe richard are also exhibited
along the paths. The north part of the garden has
water falls and caves typical of mediterranean gardens.
From this high vantage point of 1400 ft. you
have spectacular views across the mediterranean Sea
to italy, down on the bay of Villefranche-sur-mer, on
to Nice and St. Tropez. on a clear day, you can even
see Corsica!
on North part, a mediterranean garden is built, with
its caves and cascade, its plants from the Provencal
guarrigue, with pleasant relaxation and meditation
areas, as well as fountains to cool down or quench your
thirst.

Le Bord de Mer
Les allées aux noms évocateurs de cigales,
d'œillets et de Provence révèlent la douceur du
climat et la douceur de vivre d'Eze Bord de mer.
Station estivale située sur la Basse Corniche, du
Cap roux à la crique de St-Laurent. une agréable
plage ombragée avec des aspects sauvages
devenus rares sur la Côte d’azur. Lieu de résidence
calme enfoui sous une riche végétation
méditerranéenne, jouissant d’un microclimat
exceptionnel.
Saint-Laurent d’Eze
Longtemps zone consacrée à l’agriculture, SaintLaurent d’Eze demeure aujourd’hui l’un des rares
espaces de serres florales.
A ne pas manquer : Chapelle de St-Laurent,
construite au début du 17e siècle.
Eze seaside
The little streets with evocative names of cicadas and
Provence reveal you the sweetness of the seaside life.
a seaside resort located on the Lower Corniche,
shelters a well-kept and restful pine shaded beach. a
residential area with luxuriant mediterranean
vegetation and an exceptional microclimate.
Saint-Laurent d’Eze
For a long time this area was dedicated to flower
cultivation, only a few greenhouses remain now.
Worth visiting: St-Laurent chapel, built at the
beginning of the 17th Century.
