About Us The Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research Group (HALO) is located within the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute (Ottawa, Canada). HALO provides international leadership and research excellence in healthy active living for the promotion of health and wellness in children and youth, including the prevention, management and treatment of obesity. The HALO team is comprised of a multidisciplinary group of research scientists, clinicians, research staff, administrative support personnel, graduate and practicum students, post-doctoral fellows and medical interns and residents. Working with local, provincial, national and international partners and stakeholders, HALO is committed to advancing the understanding and importance of promoting healthy active living, with a mission to preserve, enhance and restore the health and wellness of our most precious resource, our children. Our History and Impact HALO was established in 2007 in response to the escalating obesity crisis and the increasing complexity of related co-morbidities. Today the HALO team consists of 16 staff (including 6 researchers), a childhood obesity clinical team (Centre for Healthy Active Living), 12 graduate students, and many community volunteers. Le Groupe de recherche sur les saines habitudes de vie et l’obésité (HALO) est situé à l'Institut de recherche du Centre hospitalier pour enfants de l'est de l'Ontario (Ottawa, Canada). Le groupe exerce un leadership international et représente l’excellence en recherche en matière de promotion de la santé et du bien-être des enfants et des adolescents, ce qui inclue la prévention, la prise en charge et le traitement de l'obésité. Notre équipe multidisciplinaire est constituée de scientifiques, cliniciens, professionnels de recherche, personnel de soutien administratif, étudiants diplômés et en formation, stagiaires postdoctoraux, ainsi qu’externes et résidents en médecine. En collaboration avec des partenaires locaux, provinciaux, nationaux et internationaux, l’équipe est dévouée à améliorer la compréhension du mode de vie sain et actif et à l’importance d’en faire la promotion, avec la mission de préserver, améliorer ou rétablir la santé et le bien-être de notre ressource la plus précieuse, nos enfants. Notre histoire et nos actions HALO a été fondé en 2007 en réaction à l’épidémie d’obésité et à la complexité grandissante des comorbidités associées. Aujourd’hui, l’équipe comprend 16 employés (incluant 6 chercheurs), une équipe clinique d’obésité pédiatrique (Centre des saines habitudes de vie), 12 étudiants diplômés et de nombreux bénévoles.
