Dear partners and volunteers,
Concordia is pleased to inform you about its MTV position in Auvergne for the summer 2012. We offer
one place and we will be more than happy to be able to welcome a volunteer. This position aims to
offer a human and professional experience to a volunteer who is ready to participate in a special
project for two months. The minimum conditions are to be really motivated, ready to live in the
countryside, to work as a team leader and to live with groups of people. We invite you to have a look at
the practical informations below. As for all our workcamps, we don’t ask any extra participation fee for
MTV volunteers.
For every application (please use the form at the end of this document) we also need a CV and a
motivation letter in French, knowing that good bases in French language are needed.
We also would like to stress the fact that above all we trust our partners : as one of them, you’re
therefore invited to send applications for volunteers that would not fulfil all the conditions, if you think
they could be the right persons!
Be aware that we receive many applications for these positions and that there will be nothing personal
(unless you deserve it…) in case we will refuse yours.

WHO IS CONCORDIA ???
____________________________________
Concordia France is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation established in 1950 that organises
mainly short-term international volunteering projects (most of the time 3 weeks with 12 international
volunteers and 2 leaders). We organise around 110 workcamps in 8 regions of France and we send
volunteers to workcamps organised by 80 partner organisations. We work with many partner
organisations across Europe, Africa, Asia, North and South America. Our workcamps are based mainly
on patrimony restoration, environmental protection and cultural events.
We also organise long-term projects (we host and send volunteers in the frame of the European
Voluntary Service, Service Civique, etc.) and have specific action with young disadvantaged people. We
prepare and follow them during the year.
There are 8 Concordia offices (called "Regional delegations") in regions and one (“National office”) in
Paris. Each regional delegation organise the international camps and follow them in their region. They
have also a specific and local work with social workers, municipalities and local organisations. The Paris
national office's job is the volunteer placement on workcamps (of France and abroad).
Our regional delegation organises each year around 15 workcamps in the regions Auvergne and Centre
between June and September. Most of the camps are in July and August. The office is located in
Clermont-Ferrand (main city of Auvergne).
The regional permanent staff is composed of Jean-Baptiste Boulange and Karyn Very, plus motivated
volunteers joining and helping us all along the year!

MTV OFFER :
Team leader in the International Workcamp of Blesle festival...?

GENERAL CONDITIONS
We are looking for a medium term volunteer for leading an international wokcamp project (music
festival) and help out in the office over the busy period from june to august 2012.
We would like to welcome a volunteer during this period : June 20th to 20th august 2012.
The volunteer will lead an international camps during 2 weeks and work for 4 weeks at the Concordia's
office in Clermont-Ferrand, with the 2 full-time members of staff and other volunteers.
After his/her arrival, the volunteer will follow a camp leader training for 1 week : from 24th to 30th of
June.
ROLE AND TASKS
You will work on the international workcamps organised in our region. You will be trained to lead these
projects. You will lead a camp and you will help with the preparation (logistic, local preparation…).
First, there will be a 6 days leaders training to prepare for leading international volunteers workcamp
projects. Other leaders from all over the country will also participate to it. The training will take place in
the region Auvergne, from the 24th to 30th of June.
During the month of July you will work with the staff at the office and you will visit other workcamps in
the region during few days to meet other leaders and volunteers.
You will also prepare and organise your camp (relations with partners, tents, sleeping matresses, tools
and all the stuff …).
Then during two weeks you will lead an international workcamp (from the 1st to 15th of August). You
will supervise a group of 7 volunteers who are going to participate in the organization of a music
festival :
- decoration of different places of festival,
- participation to sustainable development actions during the festival (raising-awareness animations,
recycling, dry toilets…),
- participation to the small catering of the festival, giving an international variousness to it.
This workcamp stands in the village of Blesle (700 habitants), located in the Haute-Loire Departement
(Auvergne region). It is 70km southward from Clermont-Ferrand, in the very beautiful valley of
Allagnon. Nature and architectual heritage make this place really attractive (it is certified as "Beautiful
village of France").
During the workcamp, you will also have to organize the daily life and the leisures of the participants,
and to manage the budget. The leader is responsible for the security of the volunteers, the respect of
the rules and the french law, the atmosphere, the relations among the group and with local people and
townhall. The leader is living with the group everyday, 24h/24h during the camps. Lodging are under
tents or in common room (school, town hall, house …).
You will have 2 days off per month. You can take them during or outside the camps. We will choose
them conjointly.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Accomodation
You will live with 3 other volunteers in the Concordia's flat above the office between the camps. You
will share a bedroom with one of them (but you'll have your own bed!). You will share the kitchen,
bathroom and toilets. During the camps and the training, you will stay at the camp basement.
For the camps, please bring a sleeping bag, work/old clothes, good shoes and pull-over, since nights
can be cold. Please take also a swimsuite, lakes and rivers are welcoming when sunny days are hot!
We invite you also to bring things you would like to share, for example games, cards, books, music,
recipes, food… .
Pocket money
- 50 Euros per week for food, during the 3 weeks of work at the Concordia's office ;
- 35 Euros when you are on worcamp and tranining (since during these periods we give some money to
the leaders for the food and the activities of all the group).
Follow-up
You will have a dedicated mentor to help you on your tasks and on your daily life, from the permanent
staff of the Concordia office in Clermont-Ferrand.
Insurance
You need medical insurance. Bring your european health insurance card if you are coming from
European Union countries or a medical insurance if you come from outside EU.
The insurance during the time at work will be provided by Concordia but volunteers are advised to take
out their own personal travel insurance as personal property will not be covered.
Location
The Concordia office is situated in the centre of Clermont-Ferrand. It’s a 300 000 inhabitants town. The
workcamps will be around Clermont-Ferand but it can be at two hours driving.
Free-time / Holidays
Our region is famous for the beauty of our landscapes (old volcanoes, medium altitude mountain
range, lakes and rivers, etc.). There is a lot of opportunities for hiking, climbing, etc. all around the city.
You will find in Clermont all that you need and there are a lot of possibilities for leisure activities (sport,
music, theatre, concert, cinemas). 90 % of our camps are in rural country. You should lead at least one
camp in a small village far from town.
