Can you use electrical appliances as soon as you arrive?
Don't forget to buy a plug adaptor : the voltage is 220 volts and we have two-pin plugs.
What clothes should I bring?
Bring a few warm sweaters and a ski-suit (if you so wish) for the winter months (the daily
temperatures can vary between -5°C and +10°C from t he end of November to the end of March),
as well as sweat-shirts and T-shirts since the weather is generally good from April to October, plus
a good pair of walking shoes if you want to walk in the mountains, and a swimsuit if you want to
take advantage of our two lakes!
How do I telephone back home?
You can use a credit card in all telephone cabins or buy an international telephone card in
newsagents/tobacco shops (un bureau de tabac).
Money
Our banks are open five days a week plus Saturday morning, with different opening and closing
times for different banks. But there are many ATMs (automatic teller machines) for taking out
money with credit and bank cards (Visa, mastercard, Eurocard, Access).
Good News !
You do not need to leave a tip in bars and restaurants because service is general included in
France. And prices advertised include VAT and purchase tax.

Finding a Job

Driving in France
If you wish to use a car in France : you need an international insurance card and a valid driving
licence.
If you are importing a vehicle : you need the car registration document and proof of ownership and
an international green card for insurance. .

At Chambéry : STAC is the name of the bus company (Service des Transports de l’Agglomération
Chambérienne).

Season ticket (12 months) = 150 euros (students less than 26 years old) + « carte bus » at 2 euros.
Book of ten tickets for 6,00 euros -Single ticket corresponding to one journey : 1,20 euro.
