Lorsque la 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer remplaa la glorieuse Daytona en 1973, depuis longtemps dj Lamborghini avec
la Miura, et Maserati avec la Bora, avaient lanc la production de voitures sophistiques moteur central arrire. Aussi
l'arrive de la Berlinetta Boxer, ou BB, ne fut pas une surprise. Le moteur tait un splendide Flat-12 de 4,4 litres d'une
architecture trs proche des formules 1 Ferrari de l'poque. A la conduite, la BB tait plus lgre et plus vive que la
Daytona, et tout aussi l'aise dans les grandes courbes autoroutires. En 1976, la cylindre du moteur passe 4,9 litres,
sans augmentation de puissance, par contre le couple augmentait, rendant la voiture moins pointue et plus agrable
conduire. En fvrier 2013 Rtromobile, nous prsentions une trs belle collection d'un ami corse, Pierre Brignole,
chanteur, compositeur et homme de got. Dans sa collection se cotoyaient Lamborghini Countach et Miura, Dino 246,
Bugatti 57 Cabriolet Vanvooren Il avait choisi par got de garder la 512 BB prsente ici. Pierre en avait fait l'acquisition
le 19 juin 1989 lors d'une vente 'Art et Locomotion' dirige par Matre Poulain au Palais des Congrs. Elle tait alors en
titre de circulation amricain d'o elle provenait. Elle tait dcrite l'poque comme " ne prsentant aucun dfaut mcanique
comme de prsentation ". Son propritaire, trs attentif au bon tat de son curie aux Chevaux Cabrs, n'a cess d'apporter
grand soin cette automobile grce au professionnalisme de Nol Faillace bien connu des collectionneurs de Ferrari sur
l'Ile de Beaut. L'intrieur en cuir noir est en bon tat d'origine prsentant une jolie patine. La 512 BB reprsente le must de
Ferrari dans les annes 70, dbut 80. La version carburateurs est la plus recherche. Le fait qu'elle soit reste entre les
mains du mme connaisseur depuis 26 ans est un vritable point fort. La 512 BB, en termes d'investissement, est
promise un trs bel avenir et celle-ci reprsente une belle opportunit d'acqurir le fleuron de Ferrari de 1976 1981.

When the 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer replaced the glorious Dayrtona in 1973, sophisticated mid-engined machines
had been around for some time, in Lamborghini's Miura, and Maserati's Bora. And so the arrival of the Berlinetta
Boxer, or BB, wasn't a surprise. It had a splendid 4.4-litre flat-12 engine with an architecture resembling the F1
Ferrari of the day. To drive, the BB was lighter and more responsive than the Daytona, and quite at home on the long
sweeping highways. In 1976, the engine grew to 4.9-litres, representing an increase not in power but in torque,
making the car much more enjoyable to drive. In February 2013 at Retromobile, we offered a wonderful collection of
cars belonging to a friend from Corsica, Pierre Brignole, a singer, composer, and man of great taste. In his collection,
a Lamborghini Countach and Miura sat alongside a Dino 246 and a Bugatti 57 Cabriolet Vanvooren...At the time he
chose to hang onto the 512 BB presented here. Pierre had bought the car on 19 June 1989 in the " Art et Locomotion
" sale held by Matre Poulain at the Palais des Congrs in Paris. At that time it had American registration, having come
from the US. It was then described as " showing no defect either mechanically or cosmetically ". The car's owner has
diligently ensured the good condition of his stable of Prancing Horses, and has always maintained this car
meticulously, with the professional help of Nol Faillace, well known to Ferrari collectors on the Ile de Beaut (Corsica).
The black leather interior, in good, original condition, displays a lovely patina. The 512 BB represents the Ferrari of
choice from the 1970s and early 1980s, and the carburettor version is the most highly sought after. The fact that this
car has remained in the hands of the same connoisseur for the last 26 years is a real attraction. In terms of
investment, the 512 BB is set to have an excellent future and this example represents a great opportunity to acquire
the flagship Ferrari model of between 1976 and 1981.
