TO ARTICLE V OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE
UNITED NATIONS EDUCATIONAL, SCIENTIFIC AND CULTURAL
ORGANISATION (') ADOPTED BY THE GENERAL CONFERENCE
OF THE ORGANISATION AT ITS TWENTY-FIRST SESSION
The English text of the Amendments to Article V of the Constitution
is as follows:The General Conference,
Having taken note of document 21C/100 on a draft amendment to
Article V, paragraph 1, of the Constitution and of the report of the Legal
Committee relating to it (21C/108),
1. Decides to amend Article V, paragraph 1, of the Constitution as
follows : the word " forty-five " is replaced by the word " fifty-one ";
2. Accordingly decides to modify as follows the allocation of seats for
the purpose of election to the Executive Board, as established in resolution
11.1 adopted by the General Conference at its fifteenth session, confirmed
by resolution 13 adopted at its sixteenth session and modified by resolutions
13.1 and 17.1 adopted respectively at its seventeenth and nineteenth sessions :
(a) the number of seats in electoral group III is increased from eight to
nine;
(b) the number of seats in electoral group IV is increased from seven
to eight;
(c) the number of seats in electoral group V is increased from sixteen to
twenty;
3. Decides to postpone until its twenty-second session the election of
members of the Executive Board to the additional seats created by virtue
of the above amendment to the Constitution;
4. Invites the Director-General and the Executive Board to submit to it
at its twenty-second session a study on the operating conditions of the
Executive Board and on the prospects of its possible enlargement in the
future.

as follows:La Conference generale,
Ayant pris note du document 21C/ 100 concernant un projet d'amendement
an paragraphe premier de ]'article V de l'Acte constitutif, et du rapport du
,Comite juridique a ce sujet (21C/108),
1. Decide de modifier comme suit le paragraphe premier de ]'article V de
l'Acte constitutif : le mot " quarante cinq " est replace par le mot " cinquante
etun";
2. Decide en consequence de modifier comme -suit la repartition des
sieges pour ]'election des membres du Conseil executif, telle qu'elle a ate
fixee par la resolution 11.1 adoptee par la Conference generale a sa quinzieme
session, confirmee par la resolution 13 adopteee a. sa siezieme session et
modifiee par les resolutions 13.1 et 17.1 adoptees a ses dix-septieme et dixneuvieme sessions , respectivement :
(a) Le nombre de sieges du groupe electoral III est porte de huit a'neuf;
(b) Le nombre de sieges du groupe electoral IV est porte de sept a huit;
(c) Le nombre de sieges du group electoral V est porte de seize a vingt;
3.. Decide de renvoyer a sa vingt-deuxieme session ]'election de
membres du Conseil executif aux sieges supplementaires trees en vertu de
l'amendement ci-dessus a I'Acte constitutif;
4. Invite le Directeur generale et le Conseil executif a.lui presenter a
sa vingt-deuxieme session une etude sur les conditions de fonctionnement du
Conseil executif et sur les perspectives de son elargissement ¢ventuel a
I'avenir.
