Nass River Bridge on Highway 37 being replaced thanks to federal and provincial funding

STEWART ʹFrom visiting friends and relatives to getting goods to market, we rely on our roads,
bridges and highways to support a vibrant economy and a great quality of life. Investing in
modern transportation infrastructure helps create jobs and grow the middle class now while
building the foundation for a strong economic future.
The Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia today announced almost $24
million in combined funding to replace the single-lane Nass River Bridge.
Located on Highway 37, approximately 13 kilometres south of the Meziadin Junction and 50
kilometres east of Stewart, the bridge is a critical link for local residents and the resource
sector. Highway 37 provides a critical north/south connection between Yukon Territory and
Alaska to the north, and Terrace and Kitimat to the south and connects with Highway 16, a
primary east/west route, across British Columbia. The current single-lane timber bridge will be
replaced with a 2-lane concrete structure that can accommodate heavier loads.
Once complete, it will support the vital commercial transportation sector and growing industrial
activity in the area. The project will also make the region more accessible and safer for both
residents and tourists travelling through some of the most beautiful and remote areas of
northern British Columbia.

Remplacement du pont de la rivière Nass sur la route 37 grâce à du financement des
gouvernements fédéral et provincial
STEWART ʹQue ce soit pour rendre visite à des amis et à des proches ou pour transporter des
biens sur le marché, nous comptons sur nos routes, nos ponts et nos autoroutes pour favoriser
une économie dynamique et une excellente qualité de vie. Les investissements dans des
infrastructures de transport modernes permettent de créer des emplois et de faire croître la
classe moyenne aujourd͛hui tout en jetant les bases d͛un avenir économique vigoureux.
Le gouvernement du Canada et la province de la Colombie-Britannique ont annoncé
aujourd͛hui un financement combiné de près de 24 millions de dollars pour remplacer le pont à
une voie de la rivière Nass.
Situé sur la route 37, à environ 13 kilomètres au sud de Meziadin Junction et à 50 kilomètres à
l͛est de Stewart, le pont est un lien indispensable pour les résidents locaux et le secteur des
ressources. La route 37 fournit un accès nord/sud essentiel entre le Yukon et l͛Alaska au nord,
et entre Terrace et Kitimat au sud, et elle rejoint la route 16, un axe est-ouest important en
Colombie-Britannique. Le pont en bois à une voie actuel sera remplacé par une structure en
béton à deux voies qui pourra supporter des chargements plus lourds.
Une fois terminé, le projet répondra aux besoins du secteur du transport commercial vital et à
la croissance de l͛activité industrielle de la région. Il facilitera et sécurisera aussi l͛accès à la
région pour les résidents et les touristes qui se déplacent dans certaines des régions les plus
belles et les plus éloignées du nord de la Colombie-Britannique.
