LGfL PML Podcasts FRENCH Allez! On fait des crêpes A Lancashire Production Episode Notes: As teachers you may be beginning to use simple instructions in the classroom. One way of developing this is to teach a basic recipe in French. This episode will teach you some key words for making pancakes – les crêpes. You may find some of these words useful to use in other recipes too. For some learners there may be a lot of new words in this episode but remember you can pause and rewind at any time until you feel confident to move on. So once you are confident with all this you are ready to do a pancake demo in your own class. Bon appétit. Activity 2 You might like to try mixing these linguistic ingredients together. Using the instructions and the ingredients how many different instructions can you give? Earlier in the recipe you learnt how to say ‘take a bowl’ prenez un bol, so take the flour - prenez la farine. In the recipe you learnt ‘pour the batter’ – versez la pâte so pour the milk - versez le lait How many more can you think of? We think there are at least 10. Can you find them all? (Check on the pdf file.) Once you are confident with one recipe it is quite easy to use the language in other recipes. You might be able to find a simple French recipe book or examples online and try and read them or even try out some new recipes. Once you have done this activity with your class they could then give a demonstration to the rest of the class or in assembly or even make a video of themselves making pancakes.
