Endless Loop Film System –
Thread Film Once, Run for Hours
The Christie Endless Loop Film System (ELF) allows you to
project up to 240 minutes of film continuously, without
re-threading. The Academy Award winning design guides
film accurately and automatically through the system
again and again.
What’s more, since there’s no re-threading, the film never
touches the floor, it stays cleaner and scratch-free. The
chance of mis-threading or mis-framing is eliminated
because each feature is loaded only once. You save time
and protect the life of the film.
The secret to the ELF’s success is its simplicity of design.
By incorporating a revolutionary platter design, it provides
trouble free operation in varying temperature and
conditions. The film is carefully guided and looped onto
the platter by an independent feed arm. The film tension
is controlled with a mechanical feedback servo system,
which can sense the film tension at the point of application.
It will automatically adjust the take up as necessary.

As an added safety feature, the ELF comes with a mechanical failsafe/split film detector, which will stop the film before a
break or tear causes any problems. Operation of the ELF is as simple as running a standard Autowind.™ Simply load a
new feature onto the standard platter deck, either above or below the ELF. The feature is then run onto the ELF during
the first showing and with a simple splice, it becomes a continuous film system.
The Christie ELF is everything you could need in a continuous film handler and more. If desired, the ELF will easily
convert to a 2 disk AW3R Autowind. The Endless Loop Film System is already in use in theaters and other exhibition
and amusement facilities worldwide. No other system offers the flexibility and dependability of the ELF and more
importantly, it comes with the quality assurance you expect from Christie.
